Update: Reflections on My Last Post Whats Changed & Whats Still True
Hello everyone i hope you all are good Recently I published a post titled “Why Is Steemit Price Dropping Day by Day? Will It Ever Go Up Again? Deep Dive & Recent Update” which you can find here: Link
I wrote that post to analyze the many reason behind the decline of STEEM including weak development low user growth internal structural issues and lack of investor confidence and offered possible solutions for revival.
Today I want to reflect on that analysis share some additional thoughts and ask the community what do you think can Steemit bounce back or is it time to rethink how we approach things?
Whats Still Valid: Core Problems Remain
Looking again now (late 2025) many of the issues describe earlier remain in fact some intensify.
- Development remains stagnant there have been no major platform upgrades or new official initiatives recently. The lack of fresh features or visible roadmap continues to hurt confidence.
- User acquisition and onboarding are still weak new users still report friction (lack of guidance poor onboarding) which means the user base does not grow significantly.
- Whale dominance low liquidity and supply pressure continue to weigh heavily: large holders still control a big share frequent “power downs” mean constant selling pressure and the demand side remains weak.
- Community activity and content quality remain inconsistent genuine creators vs. bots/curated by stake conflict remain a deterrent for many potential contributor.
In short: the structural problems that triggered the decline remain unresolved so price recovery remains unlikely under current conditions.
New Thoughts & Additional Challenges
After watching Steemit and the broader crypto/social blockchain space here are some fresh observations:
- Competition from newer Web3 / Social-Fi platforms Since 2019 many new blockchain/social media hybrids have launched. Some offer NFTs tokenized community better mobile UX or better incentives. Steemit now competes with more modern alternatives which tend to attract newcomers more easily.
- Changed user expectations Crypto users now expect slick UI mobile apps social engagement interoperability (wallets tokens DeFi/NFT integration). Steemit’s old model (blog upvote reward) feels dated to many newcomers.
- Crypto market volatility and macro economy General bearish trends in crypto regulatory uncertainty macroeconomic headwind make investors more cautious. Projects without active development or visible growth get less attention and Steemit falls in that category.
- Lack of visible leadership and transparency For long-term trust many users expect regular updates roadmap communication from developers/administrators. That communication more or less remains minimal.
What I Believe Needs to Happen (If Steemit Has Any Real Chance)
From my side here is what would need to change for real to give Steemit a fighting chance
- Major modernization effort new front end mobile apps modern UX integration with Web3/NFT/other blockchain ecosystems.
- Rework reward distribution and governance structure make it more equitable reduce dominance by whales discourage bots encourage genuine content & engagement.
- Active outreach + marketing + onboarding bring in fresh users outside the old crypto-circle: writers bloggers creators who may not be crypto-native but love writing sharing social media.
- Clear roadmap + transparency show the community a vision: upcoming upgrades features partnerships ecosystem expansions.
- Focus on content quality and community building encourage Collaboration mentorship for new user good content practices revive the “social” in social blockchain.
A Question to the Community: Where Do We Go From Here?
I want to ask all of you creator investor curator longtime Steemians these questions:
- Do you believe Steemit still has potential to revive and become relevant again? If yes how should we push for it?
- If you are content creator: would you stay and create despite the low returns if the platform modernized?
- If you are investor: what would make you start investing or reinvesting in STEEM?
- What features/changes would make you recommend Steemit to your friends today?
Your honest feedback matter. Without community Participation even the best ideas fail.
Steemit has not died but its in a critical state. It stands at a fork either revolutionize and adapt or fade into history.
I remain cautiously hopeful. With the right combination of renewed development community energy and smart planning a comeback is possible. But it will require effort from all of us: developers users and investors alike.
If you are with me lets discuss and maybe together we can help Steemit find a new lease on life.
