One of the issues that many people complain about due to stress is the ability to gain some extra weight. It is an impulse to eat food sometimes in conditions such as stress, anxiety or depression. In my experience in my life I have been able to add some points on stress eating as well. During my first college semester I realized that I’m too busy with classes, struggling with homesickness, and the environment. I remember one evening; I went to the refrigerator looking for a box of cookies and began eating them as I watched television. I didn’t even know what I was doing until the whole box is empty.
While stress eating I gathered more information on what it is and its impact on the body and mind. Reading this revelation, I realized I had to find other healthier ways of dealing with stress. The best thing a person can do is to reduce or eliminate stress by practicing proper nutrition and exercise, or taking a walk, or any other form of stress relievers including deep breathing, meditation and other stress reducing activities.
Seeking Hope in Dealing with Stress Eating Instruction Reflection
This post is a good reminder that stress eating is a problem that we need to become aware of and which we have to try not to fall into as a pattern. Recognizing that you have a disorder and require help is the first step into breaking the cycle of stress eating. Counseling with peers and caregivers or with a professional can also be useful in situations when the person is dealing with low time conditions or stressful ones.
Additionally, identifying the suitable strategies to live with stress will not only help avoid stress eating but also the well being of your mind and body. Some of the strategies include; increasing awareness, exercising and keeping company with positive people.
Finally, for one to conquer stress eating it is important to remain on a healthy eating plan. Nutrient dense meal helps in improving physical health and hence avoiding the occurrence of a mood that can lead to binge eating.
Finally, one should be kind and patient enough to allow oneself to fight with stress eating. It is slow and there will be some relapses along the way. Small successes in life and it’s not necessary to get frustrated that things aren’t taking place fast as we would like.
