I completely agree with you. My thought is that our energy infrastructure is not sufficient for the enormous and constantly increasing global demand for electricity. Incidentally, one of the biggest drivers of this is the digitalisation of all areas of life: most people are not aware of the amount of electricity consumed by server parks when surfing the Internet. And yes, I think the next big blackout is coming, and not just in Bulgaria...
When I was a child there was a schedule of turning on and off the electricity, the so-called electricity regime, which caused us to spend many long evenings with candles and gas lamps. In winter. (The same thing happened with water in the summer.)
Apparently there wasn't enough electricity for everyone back then. I read today that they were actually exporting electricity to get western currency to support the economy at the time. 😅 Of course, ordinary people were not important. As it's the same now, nothing different.
Nowadays, however, I think people have a lot more sources of electricity at their disposal that weren't used as much in the past - sun, wind, etc. Electricity shouldn't be a problem per se. I think this is something that should be taken for granted at this level of "our development". However, at any moment someone can decide to turn it off. And in terms of digitization trends, things are even more dangerous. When information is only stored online, isn't it extremely easy for it to just disappear one fine day due to a hack, bug, or something else. Regardless of backups. And the whole system, as well as our whole life based on this system, to collapse. On the one hand, things look very fragile and unduly risky.
