"SLC31-W4 // Steem Expedition, Hidden Gems and Local Secrets: Curiosities and Rarities"
On my visit to a community called Ola to see a friend, I came across palm trees that had a strange shape after tapping them for palm wine. In most places, palm wine tapping has to do with the falling of the palm trees, but in Ola and Akwanga communities and Nasarawa State as a whole there don't fall the trees instead their tapped the palm wine in such a way that it would grow again.
This particular place is located behind my friend's house in the Ola community. As I went to capture the tree I saw other trees around having the same shape which you can see in the video. If you look at the video, you will see strange shapes from the bottom of the tree up to the top of the tree where a newly fresh tree can grow at the top.
What is the story or explanation for this rarity?
The explanation for this rarity is that the trees do not tolerate tapping them for palm wine.
The people believe that after tapping the trees can grow in the future to bear palm fruit, and they also believe that palm wine can be made from them again in the future. This is something that has been happening in the community for years now.
What's the craziest thing you've heard neighbors or locals say about this place?
I have heard a lot of local sathe y craziest things about this place and palmwine tapping in the state as a whole. Local people say that the tree gets angry if the taller talk too much while Climbing to this some people believe that the palm tree has a spirit, an unnecessary task. Talking and tapping the palm tree can make the palm tree produce sweet wine or stop it from producing sweet wine.
Also, I have heard locals say that the beginning of a palm tree should never be tapped at night. This is because some of the locals especially the elders in the community believe that spirits move around palm trees after dark especially tall ones and inexperienced tappers disappear.
If you were in charge of naming this oddity, what funny name would you give it?
If I were in charge of naming this oddity, I would name it sky juice mission. This is because someone literally risks climbing the tree into the sky just to collect palm wine for drinking. The risk is too risky for someone like me to take.

Hola josepha!!
Realmente la rareza de es árbol llamo mucho mi atención porque realmente es raro y el nombre que le dió es muy interesante porque realmente es una misión llegar hasta esa altura para lograr una bebida fresca y deliciosa.
Éxito.
Muchas Bendiciones.. 🙏🏻
Thank you for stopping by. There are a lot of palm trees like this across the state and it is how the people tap palmwine.
Friend @josepha, please verify your location on #steem-atlas, as it does not appear to be pinned.
Please mention me as soon as you have made the correction.
I don't know why it's hidden, but if you search via the Day you will see it as seen in the screenshot.
Thank you @oswaldocuarta
Perfect, my friend.
I'll check it now.
