I'm wondering about something like that. There may be some products designed for the job. Not sure I trust regular vaseline to last.
You can buy gasket maker that will harden to different levels of hardness that might work.
It doesn't look like a jubilee clip would have anywhere to sit on that either. Old skool retro/steempunk... go Jubilee!
