RE: Steemgigs: Need some plumbing help

If you can replace that washer, that should fix the problem. After a while, those rubber gaskets get hard and will no longer seal and then you tighten it down and it breaks the rubber seal down. If it is not a replaceable washer go get some gasket material and use just a little gasket maker on both sides, one side to help hold the gasket material in place, of the material and it should seal up just fine.

The hose is new, but maybe this washer is just really hard. I'll see if I can find another

Sometimes the rubber washers get hard as they may sit for a while dry. When you go get just the replacement washer see if you can check and make sure it is pliable. If it says to only tighten hand tight and you use channel locks to tighten it, the washer is toast really at that point.

This was a new hose and washer. I'm getting a different hose tomorrow. Just want to get it fixed now.

I hope I have helped and you get the problem fixed. Take care! Steem On!
