i might try this on windows soon. .
. .. but i'll probably have a mobile video editing rig for editing video on the go and it's the first time in a long time that i've not only used a windows machine but especially gone back to one to do video editing -- i can't see myself buying premier or sony vegas in the short term so i might give this open source (free) video editor a go, just to see what's possible with FREE! :)
The project was started around 2003. Kdenlive is built on Qt and the KDE Frameworks libraries. Most of the video processing is done by the MLT Framework, which relies on many other open source projects like FFmpeg, frei0r, movit, ladspa, sox, etc…
looks like it would work on mac but if you are using mac at a stretch you can use the free imovie anyway which is super easy to use -- looks like this is supported heavily on linux.

cool. let us know how it turns out....! Have you used hitfilm at all?
don't believe so, when i get the new mobile machine i'll give a few a go
+1 for open source!
I use kdenlive for all of my video editing. It has its flaws but it is super responsive and can do quite a bit. One top tip I would say is always save your project and save along the way in case of any miss haps. I will also add that I use Linux KX Studio as my operating system.
Youtube has lots of interesting tutorials on some of the features of kdenlive too so you can always learn something new.
useful to know. thank you!
