So let's get started...!

𝙏𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙣𝙖𝙞𝙡 𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙚 Steaming is one of the best cooking methods in our country. Especially in this method, no oil is required during cooking. As a result, the quality and natural nutritional value of the food is maintained. So in today's episode, I will share with you the method of making 'Idli', a very popular and traditional healthy food of India.
✅ What is traditional steam cooking? Why is it considered healthy? (2 Marks)
Traditional Steamed Cooking.
Steamed cooking or steaming is an ancient and traditional method of cooking food, where food is cooked with the help of steam from boiling water instead of directly over the heat of fire or boiling water. For example, in our country's Bengali culture, steamed pitha, kuli pitha or momo are excellent examples of this method.
Why is this steamed dish considered healthy?
Given below are the specific reasons why steamed dishes are so popular among our health conscious people:👇
Nutrient value remains intact: These idlis can be cooked in water, but when boiled in water, many times its vitamins and minerals get lost in the water. But when these idlis are steamed, the natural nutrients and (vitamins B and C) inside the food are almost 100 percent maintained.
Oil-free cooking: Idli is mainly cooked in steam and this cooking method does not require any additional oil. As a result, this dish is very light and low in calories, which is ideal for our health and heart health and weight management.
Easy to digest: These steamed cooked foods are basically very soft and tender, which can be easily digested by our digestive system. This protects us from the risk of flatulence or acidity.
Flavor and color are retained: This steamed dish retains its natural flavor, aroma, and color without any artificial colors or additional spices, making it very appealing to look at and eat.
Simply put, this steamed dish is an ideal way to live a modern and healthy life, while being delicious and nutritious at the same time.

✔ I first took 2 bowls and washed the rice and dal separately with clean water. Then I soaked the rice and dal in water for 4-5 hours. I mixed some fenugreek seeds with the dal and let it soak.

✔ After soaking the rice and lentils for 4/5 hours, I blended the soaked rice and lentils in a blender with a little water. The rice and dal mixture should not be too thin or too thick. Then I poured the mixture into a bowl and covered it for 2/3 hours, so that the mixture swells well.

✔ We don't have a Idli maker at home, but I will use small steel bowls to make this idli recipe.
I have placed 4 steel bowls on a steel plate. Now I greased the bowls that I will use to make idli, with a little oil so that the idli doesn't stick. Then I poured the batter into all the steel bowls with a spoon.

|---|
✔ I put water in a pot on the stove and brought it to a boil. Then I placed the steel idli plate on top of the pot and covered it with a lid and let the yuli steam for 15-20 minutes on medium heat.

✔ After 15-20 minutes, I opened the lid and tested the idli with a toothpick. While testing with the toothpick, I realized that the idli was ready as no batter was sticking to the cut part. Now I turned off the stove and waited for 5 minutes to cool down.

✔ I took the idlis out of the oven and left them to cool for about five minutes. Once they were cool, I used a spoon to lift them out and place them on a plate.
