A Dream Warning
I was running on the road because it was late at night and I needed to get home. It was a long tarred road that married the sound of my footsteps. The streetlights were too tired to keep me company, and the silence made me hyper-aware of my breathing. I was alone on it, there were no voices, cars, nothing but silence.
All of a sudden, a tricycle rolled up beside me. I tried to run past it, pretending not to notice, but the driver stretched out his hand and touched my arm. Instantly, my entire body spun in a clean 360 and what unfolded in front of me now became a blur: He stepped out of the tricycle, i went weak, the particular arm completely numb, heavy, foreign, and useless. I was falling, He reached out quickly and grabbed me, and in that moment of terrifying helplessness, my mind called onto Mia but my hands could not assist my mind. He was a lifeline I couldn’t reach, without warning everything went dark.
It was a dream.
I realized the darkness was not because I blacked out but because I woke up to a dark room. I didn't move for a minute, it still felt real, too close, and scary. My head held my mind prisoner of thought for that silent minute.
"I needed to be careful" was my resolution.
