Best Use of 11,000 Steem Power?steemCreated with Sketch.

Let's say someone has 11,000 Steem Power, around 100 followers, and only enough time to blog once or twice a week.. what is the best way to earn rewards and/or the best way to help the Steemit Ecosystem?

  1. Upvote (my upvotes are only worth $0.02, but for something that has $0.00 it can help get it on the radar a tad)
  2. Resteem posts I upvote which I'd like to share and which will likely become popular
  3. Promote others' posts (do I get rewards on this? Or do promotions only go toward creator?)
  4. Am I missing something?

Also.. if I want to really increase my rewards on a single blog I see (from someone else), should I upvote first, then resteem, then promote? Is there a best order of that to maximize my rewards?

Thanks for any advice!!!

Your list looks good! I would add doing comments to it too. A simple comment doesn't take long to write and can help build community. I believe you could also vote on your own comment and get some reward if you want.

Excellent. I shall try. Upvoting my own comments always makes me feel like a douche lol, but eh, why not?

Ya lol, I feel that way too. I thought it was odd when I first joined and would see people doing it. I get it though-- if you're not interested in curating it's a way to get some of the value from your daily allotment of voting power.

Perhaps there should be a way to reward yourself without the vote showing up publicly? (to avoid the douche aspect)

Lmao. That's pretty good. I like that. Also I sometimes wonder if people's reputation score shouldn't be visible unless you actually click on their post. Then again maybe that's to help keep you from upcoming a 7 reputation trollbot.

You have 40 votes a day before the percent starts to go down. I find this site very helpful to see the how the votes are working steemstats I wouldn't feel bad about upvoting your own comments if your are spreading your votes around to everyone else too.

I'll take your advice! I didn't know 40 upvotes a day was how it worked (before they start to dilute). Is that a rough number or exact or?

I'm showing 22 votes in 24 hours at 97.47 percent voting power. I think if you keep it at around 97 percent you can maximize your curation rewards. If it is always at 100 percent your missing some opportunity to use your votes. I haven't tried doing over 40 in 24 hours but I have heard it will drop a lot at that point.

You can always check your vote power and number of upvotes you made here

Do what you feel is right, in your heart. That's pretty much the answer to any questions of "what should I do if _____?"

I agree in general, but my question is coming from a point of an investor as well as a user and promotor. I don't know exactly how the algorithms are currently written but I know someone reading this article will =P.

I hear you. I'm on the same boat with you about trying to understand the algorithms, particularly the voting system and how it's replenished.

Best curators could manage to earn about 1% of theyr total SP as curation rewards weekly, that's about 50% per year.
Average curators ( like me ) are doing about 0.5% , it looks like your earnings on curation could be improved .

Ya I feel like curating is probably the best thing to focus on. I'm sure my curation has been really weak too, although slightly better recently.

At first I thought of curation as like a bonus "oh if you happen to curate a good post you make a tiny bit for nothing, neat" .. but recently it's dawned on me that it's just an aspect of your Steem Power investment, that you're actually giving up value to not curate effectively (just like you'd be giving up value to not earn the same interest as everybody else).

I doubt I'll put a ton of effort into curating optimally (I probably would if I were a whale), but I'm going to make a better effort to at least use my votes and stay active with it.

Ok thank you. Ya I need to work on that. Do you know .. if I promote someone else's post and it makes money, do I get some of that for being a promotor? For the sake of argument..what if I don't even upvote..but just promote..do I get anything?

If you just promote you don't get anything .
If you upvote first and promote later you could theoretically get more curation reward making better exposure for this post, but it's very unlikely that you'll get enough to cover your expenses for promotion.
Reblogging is free so it makes sense .
