We need to stop Plagiarism here
Reaching out to you all. Even though I have only been on here for a short time, the amount of blog posts here that are simply cut and copy from other sites is really bad.
We need to all work together to stop this..
One of the important things for steemit is to get ranked highly on google for the content that is created. The entire platform will be disadvantaged if we allow plagiarism or copyrighted material (images, video, music) etc.
I know of at least one whale that is using their weight to downvote these posts. I have also started to do the same.
So, I reach out to you all to do your part as well. If you come across such articles, downvote them using the flag at the top of the article. I also put a comment on that article to let them know that I have done so and why. This will help to inform others as well.

Yes we need to keep the content here unique and of our own. Please feel free to check out my page, all my own content. Thanks and great post!
Thanks. I will have a look for sure. I enjoy coming across good unique content. Especially on a rainy day like it is here today.
Well i don't think copy paste is too bad, when you use them as help for your content and credit the OP.
But copy and pastint a complete content just for the votest, thats the wrong thing
Yes in some cases.. quoting parts of someone else's work is fine. But it should include a citation at least.
yeah that's the credit part of my comment ^^
This is the key ... "quoting parts"
If you copy the whole thing (even with attribution) you are effectively stealing from the creator of the content.
Exactly.
I don't have the weight to downvote, but I have started to spread the message. I read a lot of these "Stop plagiarism" posts recently and fully support both @cheetah and @steemcleaners in their efforts.
There have been some reasonable questions and arguments that inspired me to write about it here https://steemit.com/steemit/@timeshiftarts/copyright-attribution-what-it-is-and-why-should-i-care
If you find this to be useful, please feel free to resteem as the message needs to be spread as far as possible!
Here's a lovely picture of the sun over the Pacific Ocean in Oceanside California (I made it, feel free to reuse it however you like)
Actually your downvote without any weight still helps the algorithm. The more downvotes then it will not show. :)
I will downvote obvious violations of copyright. I usually also comment to the author about how to avoid the violation and improve the quality of his/her posts overall.
Yeah nice. The same approach as me.
