As for a new user who just joined Stemit at the end of 2017 along with familiarizing myself with all the features that platform provides and rules that determine how to act within it, I also decided to dive a little deeper right into the roots. As a ux designer and researcher I knew it was inevitable and i could not have stopped myself.

So actually nearly 3 months ago Steemit went through major redesign as I was deconstructing it in my last post. The visible improvements within the interface are the most obvious ones but they came along with another changes made in the “engine” and it’s really worth saying about these and celebrate how much the platform evolved and how much the community benefit from that on a daily basis. Just realize how much it has improved and appreciate it once again!

So… what were the goals for 2017 and what actually have been implemented?

List of improvements:

1) Native Steemit apps for use on mobile iOS and Android

I don’t have any information that Steemy actually worked out. But for sure there is eSteem - not created by team standing behind Steemit.com, but it is still a great app! With push notifications, drafting posts and multiple accounts features. Also Steemit view in mobile is quite usable.

2) Migrating Servers To Amazon

Since migration team can focus on developing the software rather than maintaining the servers or hosting infrastructure. AWS are more reliable also in case of any system failures and can react more efficiently.

3) Steem Developer Portal has been launched!

API documentation and so much more that developers and entrepreneurs might need to build third-party applications based on Steem. This is really exciting and I can see many new Proof of concepts being published recently meaning people are rushing to develop apps, hopefully useful and amazing, talents are emerging and with a little bit more competitive vibes that comes with all this, we can see an absolute change of the steem based environment this year.

4) Platform redesign and rebranding of Steemit.com

Improving its aesthetics, functionality and designing new brand identity was an important step for the Steemit Inc.

5) Scaling up the team at Steemit Inc.

More professionals and more focus on steady development rather than troubleshooting.

6) Other stuff:

  • More tutorials and walkthroughs
  • Steem Blockchain Feature: Multi-Chain Parallelism - more side-chains around the main blockchain!

What is left to come in 2018 in a first place?

From can be seen all over the main focus is directed into Smart Media Tokens project which seems quite reasonable. I am really excited to see what will be the adaptation process for SMTs. So there is a small summary of what is yet to come pretty soon:

and obviously many many others… but I will take a closer look at those ones soon. And write about. For sure.
