STEEM vs STEAM...

There is a big hope behind the whole idea of Steem. I'm tired of youtubers and other bloggers - because when they say "put a like" and "subscribe" - what they actually do - is that they are begging for money. And all steemers with an image text "upvote" do the same. BUT MY QUESTION - who's the team behind Steem? Why they named it like this? Why the site itself is so unchanging? Where are developers?
