Thank you for doing this post. I don't know much about paetron so i checked this out. Thank you for confirming that I am in the right place! Steemit is so much better suited for me. I really don't want to share that personal info. I'm sure paetron is great for many people but I prefer the lack of hassles I have here.

Another thing I don't like about Patreon is that you can not support others from a wallet without pulling out the money and putting them in again - of course with fee. There are people I support on Patreon that it would be smart if I could just transfer the money from my own account to theirs without having to pay toll to PayPal.
I have also joined the more idealistic and very cheap Liberapay - opensource, possibility to donate of your own income without paying any fees, and finances voluntarily by simply having a Libera-account on Liberapay.
It is the same as Patreon, but much cheaper!

Damn didn't realise you couldn't just pass on your earnings to others, I already support a few people and it would've been nice to avoid the round trip with paypal :o/

Not a fan of Patreon. The take a cut and give you nothing but a platform. They don't even have a directory (at least when I was on there). Didn't work for me so I closed mine.

I don't offer any perks in trying to stay as close to the ideal of a gift economy as possible, but you might be able to come up with some perk ideas that integrate with steemit in interesting ways.
