Steemit Smart token ICO scam?
The Sole admin of a large Facebook steemit group posted this.
I did not even notice that he was an admin and as soon as I saw this post pop up on my news feed
I had to say something the post screamed scam to me and I know how the crypto space is full of scams so
I first remembered that I did not hear any mention of an ICO that would be held for SMT(smart media token) to confirm I quickly went on their website https://smt.steem.io/ no mention of an ICO so I commented on the Facebook DON'T GET SCAMMED PEOPLE.
He quickly removed my message and replied, here are screenshots of our conversation in the comment section
At first, when he mentioned he was the admin, I took a look and discovered he was telling the truth he is the sole admin of this steemit group, I thought its possible he tried to leverage his admin trust to trick people and exit scam and so I asked for evidence.
He presented what he had and it is not certain if he had malintent but what is certain is that he is misled.

So at first, I thought this was just another social media ICO trying to copy the smart media token idea.
So we went back and forth and he shared a steemit post from this company

First of all its right in the title... but I tried to explain to him what this was apparently and he did not reply to my last comment so he might have realized his wrongs.
Either way, something still seems off with the ICO he is promoting, Its supposedly the first smart media token to launch on the steemit platform, Great news ! isn't it ? would we not hear about it from the steemit teem seems like a big deal.
I will continue to investigate and keep you guys posted with any new updates

I am still not a 100% sure but they sure did make a big old mess of their project . I looked into it a lot more and basically, they HOPED to be the first SMT token lol but the SMT system is not ready so they are just doing an ICO on the ETH network with maybe hopes of moving to SMT in the future. So basically they made an announcement about something that is out of their control so thats a big fail, raises concerns about their competence. I reached out to the steemit team to get to the bottom of it and see if they really are going to be part of the steemit blockchain, will keep you guys posted
seems like scam based on the way he reply quite rudely. Sometimes what other people say about it can show if it is scam or not

Though APPICS ICO is happening tomorrow - and for now it is based on Etherium and in future may be migrated to SMT
Well lots of people are still promoting it as an SMT ICO, and that is very misleading also they are also still making that claim, it's very hard to give them a benefit of the doubt here
I spoke to the team - they are hoping to be on SMT as the timeline for the SMT launch was sometime around the Q1 in 2018. Right now they are hoping to launch on STEEM. (I am in no way associated with the team. Just happen to talk to some of them for a completely different reason).
Thanks for the info, What I said still stands, it's not a good move how can you make such claims we will be the first SMT token and we will be released on this X date... when they have no control in that situation
