Has Steemit Affected Your Life?

I've been wondering about this for some time now and I'm curious if Steemit has altered peoples lives just as much or even more as it has mine?

For me, Steemit has drastically changed my life. Mostly for the better; there's a few things that's a negative but I will get to that in a minute.

The best thing that it has changed in my life is, that it has given me some kick ass friends! I have met some beautiful people on this platform and that is actually priceless.

Another thing that has changed for the better is my finacial status. I haven't become a millionaire yet but I've earned a dollar or two. Who would have ever thought that you could get paid to post good content? Why would anyone want to waste their time on any other platform?

Steemit has also given me another hobby to do as well as another social outlet that I tend to need since I have hermit tendencies sometimes.

Steemit has helped increase my knowledge about several things but especially cryptocurrency.

So what would be the cons stemming from my experience on Steemit?

First thing I can think of is that it has drastically cut down on my guitar practice. I started playing a few years ago and hit the ground running. I loved playing and started buying some really nice rigs. Steemit came along and the guitars took a backseat.

This is really unfortunate because I was making some great progress and now I have forgotten much of what I had learned.

On top of forgetting what I had learned, I have become extremely rusty with executing my chords.

I really love my Fender but this Paul Reed Smith is just amazing!

Other than playing music, it has also kept me inside the house more. @lyndsaybows created a #walkwithme tag meant to encourage people to get outside and walk, so that has helped some with that problem. It's just the damn weather we're having now that sucks so bad, it's making it difficult to get outside to even do that.

The only other negative thing I can think of would be that it's another reason to be glued to my phone lol. Even though I try my best to not stay on here too much. I may write a post and not come back for a day or two and then reply to comments, just depends on the day really. I try to stay consistent and support people in my feed as much as I can. Although, the wife will put me in time-out if I'm on here too much.

So I'm curious if Steemit has changed your life in some way, whether it be for the good or the bad? Feel free to let me know in the comments.

As always, I greatly appreciate you taking the time to check out my post. Feel free to follow along with me on this great journey in Steemit!

Interesting post. Never really considered this question. In fact, it never really occurred to me that steemit changed anything in my life, as I haven't really had any changes. ....except I have as it turns out.

So, I found out about steem from a military buddy who had hopped into crypto perhaos a bit before me. He encouraged me to check it out and I did. Seemed to make sense, why not make some money while you puttered around on social media. So I endeavored to figure out this new platform.

Like I said, I didn't really consider any changes going on in my life because of it. But having read @bluelightbandit 's post, I have now considered it through his eyes as it were. And this is what I found.

First off the same thing that you did Brother, I've made some money here. I'm also not getting rich from Steem, but I have done pretty well in the last 6 months. As I read through all the post on how to do things here, this guided me on how I could throw more out to the community and at the same time make more money doing it. If I were to spend more time at it I'm sure I could do quite well, but I have a lot of things that I need to do in the "real world" to make ends meet. The joys of owning a fixer-upper home chief among them.

However as I look deeper into it, this platform has actually made me quite a bit of money in crypto in general. Quite a bit of what I know about investing in crypto I either learned from different articles here, or those articles led me to search out things that I would not have known to look for lest I had read these articles. I was also able to put forward questions both in my own articles, and inside the comments of others articles. This continued to further my education in crypto, which directly translated into how I purchased. Even during this recent correction my portfolio still stayed at four times what I started with. That's nothing to sneeze at and is in great part because of my time here on steem.

I too have "met" some very cool people. It's also fun when you're meeting folks from around the world and interacting with them. I've done several really fun challenges or contests, not the least of which the Selfie Challenge which is how I met blue. And there is a certain satisfaction because I invested a little bit more in the platform than some with being able to help out some folks that might need a little extra help in their life.

As far as negatives, I don't see any of them as terribly pressing. Sure I've spent a little extra time, lost some sleep, but sleep is a crutch and I don't do much of it anyway. LOL To be honest if it wasn't hear that was costing me sleep it would be Facebook, or reading about something that piqued my interest at any given time. So I'd be up anyway. It hasn't really kept me inside, because some of us don't have those weather issues being that we're in Southern California. Of course here I am not being able to sleep, so I can just hop on and spend some time to try and get me back to sleep.

So I don't have to say that the pros far outweigh the cons for me, and likely will continue to do so. And hopefully we all will get rich from posting, although I won't hold my breath, which will make all the cons worth it. But if not, it really doesn't matter it's still worth hanging out.

Fantastic! Steemit definitely has encouraged more social activities for me as I generally am out and about more talking to people as I collect material to write about. On the flip side...I have lost sleep staying up later or getting up early so that I can finish posts (because I'm still working full time.) However, my plan is to retire this year and when that happens, I will have more time to create content...which I'm actually looking forward to. Steemit along with other crypto coins are letting me do this, way earlier than I ever thought would be possible.
I also know that I have made some real friends in the process and for that I am and will be forever grateful. Just like you said, you can't really put a value on that. ;)

And how can you put a price on getting ya butt pinched by a naughty Santa while getting material for an article? Ahhh, the adventures of Steemit are limitless! 😎
Great answer, Becca!

Yeah, I've found myself in some fairly precarious positions as a direct result of my Steemit activities....like in a flock of 75 wild turkeys, praying that one of the Toms didn't decide to charge me...as I was wearing a parka and my rubber boots (read: like wearing a sleeping bag with a hood and not the best footwear to sprint in) LMFAO!
Or, being hoisted up on Yvette's back ( a 1500 lb waterbuffalo). Yeah, I rode a waterbuffalo for Steemit. That's right up there with being in a firefighting "Santa's" embrace.
LOL!

You look spiritually connected with that beast.

I was whispering to her and she came right up to me so that her nose was almost touching mine. My sister-in-law took a video of the whole thing. Time stood still for a minute. ;)

I'd have to mirror most of what you say man, it's really opened my eyes the the world of cryptocurrency and I think it's brought a lot of potential finical benefit. It's been great to make friends and learn some new things along the way.

Well put, thanks for taking the time to read and comment!

You are right. This Steemit is a life changing venture for sure.
I spend a lot of time here. But, in the end. It will be good for all of us.
Thank you for your efforts for the Steemit family.

Francis

That's what I'm holding out for, the long term goal. I believe it will pay off and we will all be happy.

Steemit has made my life better I believe. Now my free time is productive to and extent.

That's the way I look at it, thanks for the comment!

Awesome stuff, the biggest struggle for me with Steemit is it soaks up all my free time - I wish I had more free time to enjoy all the great content on here. Super pictures and share thank you.

I know what you mean, it's really hard to keep up with everyone that you want to. Many thanks for your comment!

Wow... Beautiful guitars. Now steemit is the part of life.

I can tell you that I don't think I would have ever purchased crypto if it weren't for steemit. I have had a good time so far in my short time here, but will continue for sure. That PRS is nice man. Keep up the practicing!

Thanks man, I appreciate that! I was pretty hesitant about spending that much on a guitar when I was looking at them. But after I got used to it, I fell in love and never looked back.

it's always nice to here a life changing story of successful people. Your story with Steemit seems to be a great one so far and I know it will get better with the time. And taking about Steemit it has been a great platform so far and it will become a more popular in years to come. So far Steemit changed so many life's both financial and socially. Many awesome people even went beyond and started campaigns to help those who need the most. All thanks to this wonderful community who always their when we need any help.
For me the journey just started, earn few dollars but like you said most importantly got a chance to met some extraordinary people who are willing help you. That's the great thing about this platform.

I wish you a great Steemit experience ahead
