Steem, Steemit, Bitshares and SteemGO.
SteemGO will be the First Blockchain based App Store where anyone can earn rewards. It will/should be integrated on the Steemit blockchain as a subchain or sidechain (still have to decide which is best), and this way anyone can benefit from the Steem Rewards, Steem Power and Steem Dollars ecosystem.
The problem with the Apple iOS App Store and Google Play Store or Amazon App store is that they are centralized and controlled by those companies.
SteemGO App Store will be completely Decentralized and run by the community for the community. With the integration with Steem / Steemit / Bitshares ecosystem platform, we can leverage those amazing systems with its unlimited possibilities.
SteemGO will be “The App Store”, or maybe “The Dapp Store”, or “Play Store”, where anyone will be able to post / distribute their iOS and Android apps, games, music, movies, TV, books, magazines & more, and be able to “make” or “earn” the full potential of their creation.
All apps will “live” right on the Blockchain and IPFS (Inter-Planetary Files System). The voting on Steemit will give it powers to increase/decrease in the app charts! Free apps will get a totally new meaning and help improve and commercialize the development of new and better apps, games & more. The integrated cryptocurrency of Steemit and Bitshares, will give apps the needed exposure and challenges to grow its base and also help create the New economy or Blockchain economy, together with the Bitshares Exchange for easy trading and asset management.
SteemGO will be a totally decentralized cooperation, with its own traded coin (#ICO) on the Bitshares Exchange. (Join now if not done already).

Bitshares is the exchange for entering and exiting Steem. But also for investing / trading purposes for any extras you would/could make on Steemit., if you decide not to invest in SDM. It is an ecosystem and all can benefit from eachother. The extra important part will be the SteemGo Coin that will be floated (ICO) on the Bitshares exchange for ownership, managing, trading and growing the SteemGo community.
This could very well end up working on Android devices where the user is free to install apps that don't come directly from the Google Play Store, but making this work in iOS will be much harder. I'm almost certain Apple won't allow a competing app store on their devices willingly, so the only way that it could work there is it being available only to people who have jailbroken their devices, which seems like a very small portion of the total users. I have no knowledge about the Amazon and how much they combat users gaining full control of their devices, but I suspect they won't want to give up control either. How does SteemGO plan to work around these problems?
Yes, that will be a challenge, but when the mainstream (android) will be able to install from non play store, and with the coming Nokia new deals, Apple will have a hard time staying behind. But who knows if we can find or is a work around and not have to rely only on jailbroken apples!
Fuck it hello jailbreak lol. Nothing I haven't done before, I'm pretty excited for this. I don't jailbreak my phone often only when there's something worth doing it. This would totally be worth it.

This looks great. How much longer until side chains are implemented? This could give Steem more potential than Ethereum with it's broken DAO.
I have to say though, I don't like the idea of apps "living on the blockchain". I think it's better to be very careful and conservative about smart contracts if that is what you mean.
No, just meant that the apps reside there, or on the blockchains/ ipfs
This makes no sense. What makes more sense is betting on the popularity of existing apps in the 2 app stores and getting curation rewards just like with blogs.
