Is Steemit the new frontier?

in #steemit10 years ago (edited)

Steem is a new world, unexplored and full of opportunity for the brave and the hard workers creating valuable content. In this world we can settle, we can grow, we can create at our fullest potential. There are no rules, no limits. You can be anyone, say anything, go anywhere.

How to settle in this new land?

We see the struggle and it is hard! New posts are created every second and getting enough upvotes to reach the “hot” section is getting harder and harder. This is actually good, when we are forced to work hard, we become smarter, stronger, and more talented. We fall fast, learn fast and grow fast. The feedback is instant. Within an hour you know if it worked or not. So keep posting, keep failing and never give up!

What will Steem become?

Honestly there is no way to tell. The founders have planted a seed that is growing rapidly, it is an explosion of creativity and talent finally finding its outlet. It can be brutal, it can be ugly, but hopefully Steem will grow organically into a beautiful forest of abundance, freedom and connection.

What is our responsibility?

Whether you realize it or not, we are the first settlers, we are plowing new land and creating the future. The responsibility for each of us to make this land thrive can not be expressed enough. When new users are coming to this platform what is the first they see? It is the trending posts that determine if they stay or if they go somewhere else. We need to do what we can to invite the bravest, the most ambitious and the go getters but also the gentle souls, the healers and the artists. Realize that your vote counts, so vote for the things you want to see more of, not just vote because you think it will get popular, but because you stand behind the content and say that this is what I value! We are not just creating content, we are creating the future. What future do you want to live in?

Absolutely spot on. We all have a part to play. I am loving this platform and the participation that goes along with it!!

FInding your role is not so easy because you dont have to be anything in particular. Here you can be an economist and a writer and a poet and a dancer all at once. We no longer have to specialize in one narrow field but spread our wings and fly wherever our creativity takes us. This freedom is what makes me love this platform so much.

Really hoping it's the future, however, the big money makers right now appear to be Steemit Circlejerkers which honestly really sucks for anyone attempting to make a post about anything else at all.

I agree, the steemit circlejerk is getting a bit enoying but it is the platform fueling itself. It is to be expected in the startup fase, but I think it will calm down when Steem is no longer fighting for its survival in the marketplace.

I hope most people are reading the comments too, I enjoyed the post but It's looking like ph11p's reply is just what I was looking for thanx

Great post! I spent a lot of time putting together a tutorial that hasn't gotten any feedback, so I don't know if I should keep trying or if this just isn't the right platform for my type of art. Your post makes me wanna keep trying though. :)

keep trying! sometimes all you need is a bit of luck and good timing :)

Nice article, it's definitely a disruptive idea, I was also envisioning so not so distant future scenarios in a recent post check it out:

I really enjoy reading your posts, camilla! Our overall experience of steemit really boils down to our attitude and where our priorities are. Do we want to focus on creating content that reflects our passion, creativity, inner truths, etc., or on content that we think would appeal to the masses thus earning us the most money possible? Neither approach is wrong in my opinion so long as we're honest with ourselves about what we're trying to achieve. Ideally, we want to create content that we enjoy and that others find valuable, too. :) I think you've found that happy medium.

I agree, It is nothing wrong with trying to make money. As long as your happy and love your work it is all fine :)
