I am not making money on posts? Why?

in #steemit8 years ago

I actually thought a person could make Steem for posts, and commenting, and voting, and whatever.
I now see that is NOT the case.
I guess the issue is that I do not have a lot of money to put into the system, so my work is for free. I posted, voted, and commented several times yesterday. What did I get for my time?
"Not a penny", as the Hound said to the Lannister soldier before he and Arya smashed the entire crew.
But really.
I worked for an hour. And I deserve an hours wage. Instead, I got nothing. Is that fair? Nope. A person who has a 9 - 5 job goes to work KNOWING that he is getting paid. He doesn't ask the boss every day to make sure.
So what is the incentive again? To "work" for Steem? And that is what I did. To invest in Steem? But because I didnt invest, I guess...
A slave works for free. A freeman receives his wages. I need to see something before I post again.
If the incentive is to invest and work, then the system is rigged for those who have money. It is against those like me who have been ripped off too many times to even think about investing.
But what do I know, right? I mean, if I have been ripped off, then why jump into this? Without a little risk, there is little reward. I am the kind of person who thinks that you need to put forth the effort to make something. But common sense says to tread lightly.
I would like to know your thoughts on the matter.
I also hope that the men who invented Steem decide to read this post and see that I am right when I say I will not do anything until I see wages for my work...
If I do not, then I suggest those who do not make anything, just stop working for free.
Unless you like working for nothing?

You need a following. You cant just expect to get money for a post, you have to put in the time of getting nothing until one day... boom!
I'm still waiting for that day, gives me motivation to continue blogging to find out my Niche and what people want to read. Good luck, don't get down it will come along.

Yes I can, and do, expect to get payed for my post. I put in the time and effort. Time is worth something to me. If others want to wait until that "one day", then they are welcome to do so. I expect something for my time. No if's, ands or buts about it...
I have been blogging for several years now, (since 2012) and put out quality content. I walked across America for charity and blogged about it.
My wages were the views of those wanting to change their communities for the better. I didnt place ads on my blog.
This is different because I am taking time out of my day to post, vote, and comment. I need to see that this is a fair platform, and not a place where the rich get richer, and the poor get pennies...

I really like your reply :) i followed
cuz im new too haha

The network effect is on your side

Yup.
So when you work a 9 - 5 job, do you KNOW you will get paid? Yes.
Why do I post here and receive nothing? Didn't I work? Yes. Do you see even one penny under my post? Nope.
Do I have to wait for my "paycheck"? When will I see the Steem I have made for posting, voting, and commenting?
Seems to me that there is something wrong...

as @generation.easy said it not a case of make a post and boom you get a payout. you have to work hard to build a reputation. Yes some people get lucky there first post gets seen by the right whale and bam they have a few hundred dollars more than they did that morning.
And i understand it's frustrating when you see people like @dollarvigilante come along "using their fame else where" to make 15k in one post. But here's the thing you and I are where he (and many others that will come along and do the same) where years ago nobody knows us at best we can bring a few dozen people over but that doesn't promise they will read our wok either. It's up to us to take this opportunity and run with it so that one day the work we are doing now will pay dividends.
write about something your passionate about and stick to it if it's something no-one else is doing fantastic. if not don't give up lots of crypto geeks love dollar vigilante and lot more prefer other writers. heck i'm harping on about crochet knowing pretty much no one here is interested in it. but if the site goes main streem I'll be well established as the crochet girl in the cosy corner when my followers start to arrive.

I feel bad because I just saw this comment!
I have followed you and I understand what you are saying. I know other sites where you post and make money just for the content. I really wish that was the case with this site.
Thanks and have a great day!
:D

There is no such thing as easy money.

You are correct.
But there is a thing called getting paid for your content. When will I see the payment for posting, voting, and commenting?

Steemit is still in beta, much things will change in the future. I truly believe that if you put enough effort sooner or later you be be rewarded. And maybe you should write more interesting things, you have like four small posts about nothing really (nothing personal). Write quality posts and keep on steeming.

I am agree with you, we are giving our time and effort to steemit, but our some posts get nothing even they have 0.02$, and after that we see it is got nothing, then why steemit says, post and get reward for upvoting, and they are not rewarding on every post, why?

Bro, finally someone who thinks just like me, I really feel I was misinformed about this platform, I'm not waiting for easy money, just for what's fair for your work , but I love your honesty and I actually feel better, I thought I was the only one who felt like that about steemit, you earn yourself a follower.

I've been blogging for a few months on my own site and monetizing it with adsense, all my traffic comes from organic search or social media and i make some decent money not enough to live off of but enough to keep me motivated

So i thought lets try out this steemit platform see if decentralised content syndication would be better than mearly selling adspace.

Havnt made much if anything on steemit. Not sure if im doing it right or whats the issue. I've looked at many posts earning money and some of the content isnt even original or done well but is earning like 100 - 700 dollars. Is it just the luck of the draw?

Any and all steemit tips are welcome, id really like to make this platform work for me
