Steemit 101 for Beginners
STEEMIT: what it is not, and what it really is…
For my friends that are new in this wonderful community, you would like to read this. There are so many misconceptions about steemit especially here in Africa. While many people don’t really know what it is, many others think it is too confusing. I met a friend a fortnight ago and we got talking about general stuffs then we drifted to money (if we don’t talk money who will). “Have you heard about steem bizness?” he asked. His eyes lit with eagerness to educate. I have done my little research on the Steemit network but I really wanted to hear what he had to say. About twenty minutes of listening to him, I began to wonder if the steem he was talking about was the same steem I know. Maybe his is ‘steam’.
Steemit: what it is not!
• Steemit is not another Ponzi scheme: a lot of folks out here think that steemit is another Ponzi platform on the block which has just been “cryptocurrencized” to make it more legit, and for this reason vehemently avoid it. Like a stinking corpse.
• steemit is not a get-rich-quick – platform: in steemit, your hitting it big depends on the quality of your contents that you share.
• Steemit is not a referral platform: lot of folks over here thinks that your earning is dependent on the number of people you bring onto the platform, but that is not the case. Like I said earlier, you earn by your curated content.
Now, what then is Steemit?
Steemit: What it is!
• Steemit is a decentralized blogging and social networking website that uses its Steem block chain-designed rewards platform for content.
• Users earn by publishing content without having to buy into the currency at the onset.
• Steem uses its own tokens (Steem tokens, Steem Power, and Steem Dollars) and has a wallet built into its content management system (CMS)
• As a content creator, your pay is a mix of Steem Dollars and Steem Power which you can still decide how you want it. As a curator, you earn the percentage of Steem power allotted by the creators. These currencies can be stored in the Steem wallet or powered down into Steem, which is then tradable on exchanges like OpenLedger, Changelly, and Bittrex.
• The value of Steem is driven by the popularity of the content, so creators and curators are incentivized to promote the sites hosted on the blockchain.
That’s it guys, there are other articles on Steemit that can guide you immensely in the community so, you going to do yourself a whole lot of good by checking them out. Nice posting.
