THERE IS A METHOD TO MY MADNESS

Really there is... Here is my ongoing plan for this account:

Firstly I wanted to set up a new Steemit account and record what happens as I go, so I set up @frot. It is named after my website www.frot.co.nz

Secondly, after doing my introductory post, my plan was to do 10 posts in fairly quick succession to get the account started off.

I made no effort to publicize this account, because being unknown was better for the experiment.

All of these posts were intended to be of similar quality to my usual posts on my @sift666 account. OK posts, not huge encyclopedias, but no lame spastic crap either.

The next plan was to spend $100 on bidbots promoting those posts and see what happened. And to be sure to test all the main bidbots and rate them. (but to avoid any bots run by people I don't trust)

Using this site https://steembottracker.com/#bid it was easy enough to do. No problems occurred.

After setting up a spreadsheet and entering the figures it looked like a final return on the $100 spent, of about 10%. So when you see someone's post who used bots apparently making $50, and you want to beat the evil capitalist scum to death with a giant dildo, keep in mind that they are only really making about $5

The ratio of Steem to Steem Backed Dollars (SBD) makes a difference to how it all works out, and at the moment it makes using bidbots a better option than six months ago. But if SBD go back up in value, bots may become a waste of space. They are not that great, and soon I will finally know if they are profitable.

So although the profits were nothing to write to Moby Dick about, the bots do sort of work at the moment, and they had two other side effects I didn't previously think about.

They rapidly pulled in some followers - not real followers who actually read my posts, but at a glance the numbers do look good. And they also do great things for your rep. In just one week I had a rep of 50 and 210 "followers". That is fucking amazing for a new account - it took about six months to get a rep of 50 on my @sift666 account. So bots are a good way to get a new accounts off to a flying start.

If I can consistently pay myself an extra $10 a post using bots I'll probably keep using them on this account. I plan to do a post about bots soon when I have all the figures.

The other big side effect of this experiment is that I now see that I've become a bit inhibited on my @sift666 account.

One of my favourite Steemians is an artist who specialises in doing paintings of purple sphincters. And another is a lady who does posts about whatever she feels like - including tirades about "negros" and "trannies"

They both get totally crap payouts, and although I really appreciate their posts, I also realise that @sift666 is an investment account and I'm not going to post anything like that myself. I do sneak about unflagging and upvoting controversial stuff, but I don't post it.

A lot of the best content I've ever posted online is not even on Steemit - its on my website www.frot.co.nz but copying webpages onto Steemit is frowned upon, so I don't because @sift666 is a well behaved investor.

Now after two years I want to post WHAT EVER THE FUCK I FEEL LIKE - just like I do on my blog - without fear of damaging my investment.

What say I want to do a post exposing something that a lot of powerful people on Steemit are raving about? And then promote that post with some bots. And then just post pictures of purple dog's arses as replies to anyone who tried to start an argument in the comments.

On @sift666 I'm probably not going to do that, but as @frot I just might.

Initially I was thinking I'd test out using bots to see how quick I could get this new account up to 500 Steem Power, because an account with no vote slider is kind of second class. But upon reflection I can see that I'd have to work those bots for months to earn that much on an account with virtually no real followers, and that would be a bad use of my time. So bugger that, I'll just delegate 500SP to this account and see if that gets things moving faster.

A probably better tactic is to keep posting most stuff on my @sift666 account, and just post the occasional naked libtard eats a purple dildo on this one.

So I'll spell this out right here.

At this point I'm not even sure if I'll tell my @sift666 followers - I probably will sooner or later, but I don't really care if this account is popular - this is my don't give a fuck account.

I'll have a break from using bots for a day because it will be easier to check what the payout % was from the $100 experiment if there is a short gap, but that is not due to any righteous indignation about bots. I'll use them again asap to get something disturbing trending. Yes they probably are fucking up Steemit, but maybe not as much as EOS might try to do later.
