Is STEEMIT Just a Mirage ?
I've been on this platform for a few weeks and it's obvious why the superstars are liking it, they're getting paid thousands for their content however, for the vast majority with content which is just as good, they barely get a look in.
I suspect I'm beginning to experience the user experience for most of the Steemians on here with an optimistic and hopeful beginning and then a slow realisation that maybe it's not that great with the whales pulling the strings, casting the bait and us minnows swimming around wide eyed, ever hopeful yet utterly powerless.
I'm currently 55/45 in favour of STEEMIT, I'm still hopeful it's going to fulfill its potential but I'm powering down just incase so I can ditch it, if in 3 months, I'm still of the same opinion.

I see what you mean, I've been having similar feelings lately. I completely understand why some feel like it's just not worth the time and effort. That said, I still feel positive and hopeful. Can't say for how long though.

I think with steemit we have a big power in our hands just look how many things you can lear and look the reward that you can earn with just your steempower, also today the steem price is just 1,6 USD in some months you will see a price in $3 or more for sure

You have to be HUGE in order to get any benefit from the system, thats why everyone is trying to hard to make it to the top
there are accounts on here that have 3.5 million dollars in it, they get paid thousands a day for doing nothing....crazy no?
Keep in mind that they are essentially shareholders in the Steemit company. They earn the dividends as the company grows and develops. And should they curate something or call it out, they are reaping the benefits of those shares. These accounts started when Steemit was completely invisible and has grown with it.
Everyone else that started in this wave of minnows will have to have similar patience and faith in the growth of the platform. Fortunately, there is increasing support of these minnows: e.g. #minnowsupportproject

You hit the nail on the head. Part of it too ia user behaviour. I think very often people dont take the time to look at what else there is besides the top trendib
We the underclasses of Steem must organise and increase our power through networking. The people have the power, we just need to learn how to use it.

I agree with you.
We minnows are wide eyed and swimming with whales. Since content was good enough to earn some dollars. But i feel they dont deserve that $1000 mark.
However, they have little weighted content. Some posts and accounts i can see they had great following and returns just because they are whales.
I am in no way to offense any one, but you can see some lady accounts with some glamour pics in them sharing their opinions, introductions, travelling and sharing some coindesk updates are really top trending. Now they are on the way to become a mini whale or may be equal to whale. This explains just like similar chaos which was echoing the gender based popularity and importance on the social platforms like twitter and instagram.
May be steemit soon should face the same in future and if the day arrives many worthy minnows would be in a great frustration. Finally that may turning to accusing the platform and community. This may happen or may not. I don't know....
Note: The above comment is my personal opinion in this situation and not to criticize the other users work. I love many people's(both the genders) work of sharing their personal travels etc. I do follow them.
