Something controversial is a really hyperbolic adjective!!!

I had an entire post typed up here lamenting the fact that posting extremist views was the quickest path to financial success on steemit.
While that may in fact happen at times, upon further exploring the topic I was very encouraged to see that the 'hot' feed really contains nothing of the sort. Same for the 'trending' feed.
There are certainly 'everyone who thinks _____ is stupid' posts and they do get a fair bit of play, but these are NOT the real engine of steemit. That content seems to be centered around steemit/other cryptocurrencies (shocker), art, writing, and philosophies on life.
In short, I came to rant and left complimenting. I'm encouraged to see that in general we have a community here in the truest sense of the word - a group of people self-governed, interested in each other, exhibiting primarily respectful behavior toward each other.
