•  Steemit can break free from this as it is more tailored towards real free speech and a decentralized democratic system that is run by the members.

•   Facebook is already a prime surveillance tool for our government and will continue to be run with the supervision of the government more than we may realize. 
•   Facebook owns multiple data centers around the world to power its massive user base. 
•  With the largest traffic source of any website facebook is able to generate huge amounts of revenue from advertisers and at the same time give it’s advertisers a very targeted user base to choose from based on what people have indicated as their likes and user habits.
