New Steem platform | Suggestions

Hi fellow community,

In light of the recent announcements in the crypto world and beyond I have been thinking about Steem and what we need to do in order to unleash Steem's full potential.

As of now all Steem-based apps are fragmented throughout the web, the on-boarding process is not up to today's standards and furthermore, SMTs and their implementation are still miles from being user-friendly. All together Steem's appearance is less inviting to the masses and nowadays often looks like a playground for hobby developers.

If we don't up the game sooner than later and create a platform for ordinary people, Steemit might soon not be able to catch up with the general trend (exponential growth).

I am suggesting a new Steem website - a kind of platform with:

  • an easy sign up process

  • an overview of and access to all the major and new DApps

  • overview of and access to an updated Steemit community (which offers public profiles, option to befriend other users, option to create a Facebook-like group, etc.)

  • a selection of major SMTs and their respective communities

  • access to the SMT-platform

  • access to Steem.Center (Steem-Wiki)

  • There needs to be a step by step instruction before and when creating SMTs (and/ or the option to book a developer per hour with a few clicks - users could qualify for certain tasks and sign up when available)

  • There should be an "official" and continuously updated Steempress-plugin for ordinary users to implement their SMTs into their websites and communities (should be compatible with common forum softwares like phpBB).

The team might need some additions and front-end experts in order to achieve this :D Developers helping to maintain and expand the website could also get rewarded through upvotes on a "Progress made" Steemit-post shown on the homepage-sidebar.
Questions the FAQ doesn't cover could also end up in a "help"-tagged section on Steemit. Users who provide the most accurate response would then be rewarded with those upvotes.

These are just a few brainstorming ideas I had while I wrote this post since I can't wait to see all the creativity, ideas and knowledge strive on the Steem-blockchain. I want to see Steemit as a platform of opportunities and networking, where everyone can share their skills.

It's time to open up and create a user-interface that enables everyone to fully embrace the Steem potential!

Good post. I’ve noticed you joined last year but haven’t really gotten off the ground. A few tips maybe to help you out as you seem to write well.

  1. Though you joined a while ago you can still do an introduce yourself post. Basically about three paragraphs introducing yourself to the community and just natter about what you want to do here. If you put it under both the introduceyourself and introducemyself tags along with steem, writing, and blog it should do well.
  2. With most posts getting traction images help to break up the paragraphs. It’s a format thing as most folks tend to skim and the images help break it down into digestible chunks.
  3. Proper tag usage will help you get things in front of more eyes. A good way to check that out is go on steemit or Steem peak and look at the categories on offer that are relevant. A good set of tags for this post that will get it more exposure are the following:
    steem community cryptocurrency writing blog.
If you click edit you can reset your tags. A lot of content gets lost in the stream so steam lining submitted stuff helps folks find your work.
Non of this is criticism on your post btw. Helping users do well is something I do from time to time on the platform. As I said, you write well so with a couple small adjustments you would get a lot of folks taking an interest in your stuff. In this post you field some great suggestions and observations so I’m happily upvoting. If at any point you need a hand feel free to give me a shout.

@mudkit36 Thanks for your feedback and advice!

Also good idea re: introduction post. I'll share one in due time.
