RE: The Paradoxical Downfalls Of Steemit's Decentralist Ideology...

in #steemit8 years ago

I'll take the chaos of decentralization any day. Of course there will be bad actors - they exist in every society. Generally speaking, I have seen far less of them here than on any other social platform.

You hit the nail squarely. Decentralization - it's why most of us are here, one way or the other. Freedom. It means something to me and I am willing to accept the downsides of it, just to have it.

I'd not be averse to a governing body as long as that body is not an appointed (annointed) group. If anarchy doesn't work here then let's try pure democracy. A steemit-elected group serving for a set amount of time to be never eligible for re-election - that would probably assuage most fears.

I'd even go a step further and limit the perspective overlords to a certain rep score, nothing above this or below that. Eliminate the "Whales are taking over" hysteria before it starts. Or even have reps from several reputation classes so that everyone is represented.

This space is great. We can make it better. It will never be perfect. But it's the best we've got right now and I for one, will not abandon it due to lack of or election of new overlords.

not quite enough for a new post...
