The Gabion wire mesh wall.
Hello guys welcome back to my blog. This time I haven written articles related to the Gabion retaining walls.
You may have traveled thousands of miles in your life , visited new places and so on. But you may have noticed some walls on the hill sides of the roads. Incase If you dont know, you are in the right place for the information
The construction of roads isnot easy as you have expected. During the construction huge amount of soil is cut and excavated and this may cause the instability of the slope. Hence, the retaining walls are built.
Retaining walls are the specific walls that withstand the force exerted by soilmass and prevents from erosion. Gabion walls are also the retaining walls, wired in structures. They are built on the slope where the soil mass is unstable thus holding the soil mass.
Basically, rectangular shaped stone are used for the self stability of the walls. If you have enough time, irregular stones are carved into regular rectangular shaped. The height of individual walls are about 1 metre and wire mesh is used to make a single wall structure. Similarly, other walls are connected in a specific way inorder to maintain the stability. The hillside portion holds the soil mass allowing water to flow via the gaps between the walls.
Soil erosion is the major problem degrading the environment. Everybody should take conservative steps for the stability.
