Can Someone Answer This Please?

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemit Community,

This is my first month here at Steemit. I must say I really like this project ,and the community that supports it!

What I don't really understand is the whole earning thing!? I bought about 12 SDG, but how do they influence my earnings?
I read a lot about it and everyone says something different.

There are so many things Curation, Vest, SDG, STEEM, STEEM Power, Reputation, Voting Power, and so on...

I basically understand it, but I dont know how to make earnings!?

So if there is an experienced user here, that might want to share his/her story, I would really appreciate it!

Thank you!

Steem Dollars (SBD) are not linked to your voting power. They are tied to the US dollar and so pretty much 1 SBD (Steem Dollar) = 1 US Dollar. There was supposed to be interest earned on SBD each year but the witnesses who control the interest rate have it set at 0% right now to keep the price down to $1USD.

Steem is the liquid part of the cryptocurrency that can fluctuate a little more in the price. It is worth about $1.40 USD today. It has been as high as $4 and as low as $0.06. This money can be sent to other users, to exchanges to cash in for Bitcoin, or exchanged for other services just like money.

Steem Power (SP) is where you get your voting power from. This essentially comes from Steem but it is locked in for 3 months. If you want to buy more voting power, you either need to buy steem from an exchange and send it to your wallet on steemit and then "power up" to SP. You can also buy it directly from your wallet.

If you are looking to get more voting power from your posts, you need to select "power up 100%" from the little menu on the bottom right side before you hit post. This will give you your entire payout in SP. If you don't check this, you will get some SP and some SBD.

The wallet section describes it all and there is a FAQ Section

Your Steem Dollars affect your voting power. So, the more Steem Dollars you have, the higher upvote value you can leave for people.

You earn, by other people upvoting your posts and leaving you value.
If a lot of people with low reputation or less SBD leave you upvotes, you won't see a lot of change in your value.

Whey you attract high value posters, they will leave you more money. It takes a couple months of consistent, quality posts, but people will notice.

Cheers.

Thank you for your reply, this is very helpful to me! So I guess I need to make some valuable posts first, to get noticed.

Yes, and value can be anything. Funny, interesting, learning, games, photography.

There are so many people on here, it is all about just finding a niche. Find something small that you love to do and just do a post on it often.

Steem Dollars does not affect your voting power. Steem Power is where you get the voting power. I'll leave a full reply explaining further.

True! Mis-written. Steem power affects power. Thanks for the catch @stephen.king989
