Self-Upvoting and Minnowbooster Stopped! 👍🚫 Why someone should do that?
Hello Steemit friends,
until now i'd upvoted all my posts directly with first publish and used also Minnowbooster. The intention behind was always the same.. so much effort in every post.. why should i not use my Steem Power and Steem Dollars to increase the payout?
"For what reason i bought all that Steem Power and did constantly powering up?"
Some Steemians stopped that behaviour simply because they had so high payouts for each and every post that they don't needed it anymore. The other intention is sometimes to feel better and less selfish. In my case it is the opposite. My payouts decreased recently (one reason for sure is also Steem price but not the only reason).. but i waive nethertheless. @freiheit50 wrote about his decision what made me think about..
"You must be crazy if don't get anything and don't use the services and bots!"
At first glance it might be economic nonsense. But on the other hand i use now two other Minnowbooster services:
- Steem Power delegation for users on the marketplace
- vote selling at voting strength of 75%
The trigger was that sometimes i saw that my voting power was at 100%, unused because i could not be active at some times or i didn't want. To avoid the waste of potential i watched for alternatives.
If do now no self-upvotes all the voting power remains in my arsenal and can be sold to Minnowbooster or i use it for others actively while reading, commenting, upvoting your posts.
Something changed for me basically?
Not at all i think. Finally my rules remained the same:
- reply on each serious comment in my blog and upvoting with my subjective voting value
- go out of my blog and visiting your exciting world and commenting and upvoting
- constantly powering up to increase my own voting value, to gain more influence
- helping others if there is an opportunity (hints using Steemit, promoting of great posts, donations for for needy people, etc.)
- maintain delegation for Minnowsupport
- transform interesting topics into great posts whenever i have time and desire to do that
- constantly generate income for powering up
Ok, i'm now not as active as in 2017, but that can change spontaneously.. i believe writing blocks are normal and natural sometimes and there are times i'm simply to busy with my business. At the end of the year i activated vote selling and made a break from writing.. i forgot the activated service and after my return to Minnowbooster i was surprised because i saw three digits sum of Steem Dollars for sold votes which were collected over time.
"Hey what are these Steem Dollars in my Balance??"
.. yes i was confused for a few seconds and not aware of it.. it was the first question to myself with wide opened eyes. I'd it simply forgotten. Eventually my Steem Power had worked for me over a whole month and it was clear why there was that amount of SBD. Quick decision for me how to use the small fortune.. POWER UUUUUUUPPPPpp!
But one thing you should remind!
"You don't get any Reputation for Vote-Selling!"
You can imagine that as punishment for inactivity or simply as smart action to reward active Steemians.. and really it works that way. I'd earned some SBD during my break but i'm now more well-known or respected? No! It is the opposite. Someone might visited my blog for a few days after my leaving but then he might said to himself:
"What happened to him? .. no writing.. his blog is dead.."
The result for sure is waning interest by the community and if you start writing again maybe less payout. I doubt there is much interest from people who bought my vote, because they already paid for it and don't care who upvoted their postings. Therefore i see a passive approach never as ultimate solution. But Steemit offers a model to be passively active in such times and that's what i especially love about Steemit:
"In Steemit you have options.. there are many ways to use the ecosystem."
Because of these various options i decided to join Steemit in mid 2017. I simply was and still being fascinated by the sophisticated system (with all the little flaws which are also amplified by the bad behaviour of people) and learned new possibilities on my journey.
"Is my moral grown because of my decisions?"
I believe not.. but i'd seen booster service used by others which pumped up cent-valued posts to double digit Steem Dollar payouts. Such posts consisted often just of a small section of text without interesting content, which was sometimes annoying. My belief is that quality always counts and the payout is often not an indicator for quality. To be honest i was bit shocked as i recognized i'd supported someone for a long time who did this with each of his posts. I myself writes mostly relatively long posts because i can just stop if i got the feeling of completeness and wanna ensure that everything is said. I wanna see if my posts are worth something without self-upvoting and booster services. That is something regarding honesty with myself. I'm aware that Steemit the system is often gamed but i wanna belong to the ones who does not follow that path and wanna belong on bright side.
"You write so much.. and you earn almost nothing. Make that sense?"
Sometimes i'd invested one day in one post and got 1 Steem Dollar as payout value.. i don't care if someone comments my post and thanks me and contributes something valuable to the topic.. since it paid off for both sides!
"If i got no Steem Dollars what are the benefits of this platform?"
Of course i'm happy with each additional Steem Dollar which i use to power up in 99% of the cases, but i cannot say:
"I DESERVE IT!!.. i deserve it? 😏"
I think that was one reason why i stopped Self-Upvoting and Minnowbooster because i wanna see how others judge and not me by myself. 😌 Beside that there is silent hope that it will pay out in the long term, for the community and eventually me.
"Is that good for moral or better at all?"
I don't know, others buy now my votes for their boosters. Please tell me your opinion about that topic. Thank you!

@onetin84 sir...
What I learned here :
Steemit is not only about UPVOTES & Money
It is about writing..
It is about reading..
It is about knowing people and their side of the story..
It is about learning..
It is about finding a path to follow..
It is about keeping yourself motivated to write better..
It is about broadening your thinking..
It is about spending your time productively..
It is about making you think from a different perspective..
It is about writing without any expectations of UPVOTES..
Great, the last one is always my guide.. especially in the beginning i had huge posts with 0.00$ payout for weeks but i continued writing because was a urge and desire. Rewards coming automatically if you're enthused.. i think i need more enthusiasm currently. Thank you!
I admire the way you create the best content on steemit community. This article is really based on the way steemit community should grow. We should upvote the best content creator and not just look for some upvotes. In the long term our true followers will make our articles trend. Article was really good.
Thank you for the true words about content! Steemit can just survive with some good value. If everyone tries to game the system it is dead. It may die slowly but it will die. The reality is we are surrounded by bad content. Recently i saw a user with high reputation spamming the news feed with stupid memes many times a day just to get $0.01 per post. The feed was unreadable and it looked like fully automated bot behaviour, clear abuse for me and completely nonsense.. especially if i think of new users arriving the platform and must such s... Thank you!
I appreciate your patience but I believe if you think he is posting shit you should let him know. Maybe he might be going through some issues and maybe he likes to make memes. You should let him know about your views i believe he will understand. And a person like you should help others. I too am trying to contact you on steem chat to learn from you. 😄😄😅
@onetin84 sir...
today. Just as far back as January 3rd, Steem was $8.16 USD and that was less than 3 months ago! We can return to these prices, in fact the secret is that Bitcoin controls the prices, and we all know Bitcoin is going to be more popular than steem, and people just end up buying Bitcoin due to its massive global HYPE campaign. And when Bitcoin goes up so does Steem no doubt 100%! We just have to wait and ride the WAVE of Bitcoin! There is almost no steem left for the liquid market and that's a great thing! No one is buying much steem yet but SOON there we be NO more steem left and the prices will go up up up up up ! This is going to end up at $20 steem SOMETIME in 2018 maybe not next week maybe not next month but sometime this year we will fly past our $8 previous high and zoom to the $20 level, and in 2019 I believe we can break the $100 level and by $2020 I DO believe Steem can hit $1000 and we will WISH we had saved up as many Steem tokens like they were Bitcoins! We have a SECOND chance here or no a THIRD chance! If we missed Bitcoin AND ethereum NOW is the time to get into STEEM! $100 Steem is NOT a fantasy! At max 21 million Bitcoins, there arent enough for every one of the 33 million of the world's millionaires to own one! And Steem at 250 Million tokens even in 10 years when we have closer to 400 million, that STILL isn't enough for everyone on the planet, mny people will have to settle for PARTS of a steem, which they already do with Bitcoin! Many today are happy to have just 0.1 Bitcoin since that is close to $1000 and that is a lot of money for most humans on the planet. So just keep stacking steem, yes everyone on steem today, the less than 900,000 users, they can ALL become the new ruling elite, we arent even 1 million users yet, so everyone on here NOW can end up being the millionaires of the future!
Happy steeming..
I like your positive view! 😁 although for me a bit too optimistic. I see a bright future for Steemit and the whole ecosystem around it. But what happens if Steem price goes up $1,000? I know recognized Steemians which are currently own Steem with a value of a few hundreds of thousands US Dollars. With such price increase they would reach levels near a billionaire and there are some whales with even much more Steem. But Steemit could grow much more. Currently there seems a massive bottleneck for new accounts. The current numbers are freezed for days now on Steemworld.. i don't know what's going on but i think of something technical behind the scenes. With better market sentiment i see $5-10 in 2018 depending on the onboarding process and recognition of Steemit in the public.
@onetin84, You posted most valuable letter of why should i not use my Steem Power and Steem Dollars to increase the payout? I have look much and most thinkable topic. I've already used promoting bots for increase payouts. But I felt now It's bad decision I've taken. Perhaps it's selfish line. However you better explained here. Thanks for massive effort to mention massive purpose.
I do not judge the behaviour of you or others. It's just my case and i think it depends on many factor like attitude, Steem Power, experience, goals, etc. My takeaway from three quarters of a year on Steemit it is not satisfying for me to get the SBD and SP out of the pool just by paying bots. I think it ends in a dead end but on the other hand it is not sure that i benefit from my decision.. i'll see. Thank you!
Dear friend Tino, I was impressed by this platform, because I sincerely benefited from many articles that members publish, I gained some experience, and some great friends, I personally try my best to make good content, and I try to raise the value of SteemPower through my followers and used some bots ، I'm working as much as possible to increase my level of reputation, in addition to using bots to increase steempower , I can not buy steempower , I'll need help and use bots , thanks you my dear for sharing a great article , al the best for you my dear friend @onetin84 👍👍😃
Hi @samer484 for me it is also about the way not just the goal. But Steemit is a neutral system with defined rules. The community always decides in the end. Steemit has many options for many situations and the bots are a part of it. What is strange for me is if the content of a post value is completely detached from payout value.. means if a very good post gets a minuscule payout and the stupid meme from a generator get double digit SBD amounts.. or my cream tart photo example without narrative which i used sometimes. Everybody can decide for themselves how to act and interact with Steemit. Thank you!
Wellcome for you my dear tino @onetin84 😃
Great post. I don't want to use minnowbooster or bot services either. I want to earn steem with my own efforts and connecting with different people, upvoting and commenting on great, legit content.
i think right and constantly done you do much better than using any of the boosters and self-voting. Community rewards that behaviour automatically.. not instantly but over time. STEEM ON!
For sure. Thanks! STEEM ON as well! :D
better not to waste that voting power and use it for some awesome content with minnow booster it is great
content is King but it needs always attention for great content. To create outstanding content it needs much more time than for a average but also long post. I think you need always some tactics to promote your content.
its all about compounding and those who have lost on bitconnect need to invest here badly so that they can earn more
i hope these scammers get no second chance and people look for the better choice here on Steemit. You'll not get 1% per day but as you wrote a good long term return to be happy!
you are pushing others too up along the journey which is very nice of you :)
just my thoughts, it's flowing out automatically.. Thank you!
that gif bro the bouncing hahah but thanks for sharing the english version of it
don't know exactly what bouncing you see.. 😁 maybe you can help me
