Silent Update Steemit Signature - from blue flames to the green.. please help me out!
Dear Steemit friends,
over a week ago before the great Steemfest i was quite surprised with the rebranding of our great platform Steemit! I asked myself the following question:
1. Is that a better Logo for the bright future of Steemit?
and second
2. What is the meaning of the Logo?
The answer for the first question, i say yes regarding the new shape, modern fresh design, but i'm still a bit confused
even after days by the color. It reminds me always instantly to Siacoin (SC) and my gut feeling says no to it.. it's a emotional state i cannot explain exactly. For me it is a color in between green and a bit blueish, a bit of turquoise and i feel stronger with the blue of the old logo. On the other hand it stands out from the crowd (Twitter, Facebook) which already use blue color tints.
What is your opinion?
I know it always needs time for us humans to get used to a brand new thing and to proof that i'm not a complete fool i updated my little signature animation with the new one silently and announce it here officially, to celebrate the change and the bright future! It should represent a bit the social and fun nature of Steemit with the great community all over the world.

What's still a riddle for me is the shape of the new logo. The old one i spell "steem".. "steam" .. push something out for the community.. a post with much steam.. STEEM! STEEMIT the steam represented by the flame like shapes.. the energy, the motion.. that's my recognition of the old logo. Maybe the designers had a fully different understanding or feeling about. I would be interested to know more about the story!
Now our current logo reminded me first of a helmet of the great Spartan from 300 😄 but i think that's ridiculous. What else could i t be, two little clouds, talking bubbles, one upside down and filled? I'm honestly not sure and i'm so curious to know the story behind the logo from Steemit Inc.! Was it revealed at Steemfest?

It wasn't actually that silently, they just decided to announce it during SteemFest. The reason of the new color, as they said (I was there) is exactly to stand our from all the other blue-ish social media. And then, even though it reminds me too of Leonidas (I'm Greek, I see Greek history everywhere haha) it's just a more design style let's say of the 'S' ;) We were all quite surprised there but...oh well! ;)
Ahh! That brings light to my darkness. The "S" sure, what my brain always builds out of reality and dreams.. 😁 Leonidas is sometimes a bit offensive, maybe not the best choice for a social network.. but 300 is one of my favorite movies because of the courage and honor of the king.

I think, the new logo it okay...but not sure that it was needed. I came out at at time where the Steem was dropping, the platform had serious problems. Maby the focus should have been there instead...
My perspective on that is you need always both, a strong core development and a strong marketing. Also it's work for different people from different areas, programmers, designers. There must be no conflict just if it's a decision where the money flows and you cannot serve both.
i guess they will keep rebranding it again and again
from my point of view it would be better to diligently decide for "the one and only" logo and keep that as brand forever! If you don't do that the awareness level diagram looks like a saw blade profile and you'll never reach the top with the brand, because you simply build no brand if you let it vanish each year in front of people who get used to it or imagine people who are just warming up and then the logo disappear and they think "ok, it's over i was right with my first guess..". Imagine Coca Cola would change their brand tomorrow.. 😆 i hope Steemit make a strong decision on that. Look at Facebook, they'd basically never changed from the beginning in 2004, just simplified over the years because they'd constantly build the strong brand to reach the most simplified "f" which everybody now knows. The first 1,5 years of Steemit were a long time for the first brand with all the enthused pioneers who were mostly proud of the logo i think. Such changes are always dramatically from a marketing perspective.
