On the road to 50 million Steem users...
An interesting infographic was being shared on my Twitter timeline this past week: The Number of Years It Took For Each Product to Gain 50 Million Users.
The infographic shows product adoption for the biggest consumer technologies in the last 100 years based on reaching 50 million active users. It is interesting to note that recent technologies reach 50 millions users in only a few years, instead of a couple of decades. The app Pokemon Go even hit 50 million users on mobile devices in it’s first nineteen days of release.
Thanks to the mass acceptance of mobile phones and the Internet, our ability to wide spread new technologies has become much easier than it used to be in the last one hundred years. Besides, Both Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and Pokemon Go are free to use, in contrast to the other mentioned products.
When will Steem reach 50M users?
While 50 million users is a great benchmark for technology adoption, I think we must not forget the longevity of a product. 'Pokemon Go' absolutely set a tremendous performance by reaching 50M users so quickly, but the hype didn't last very long.
Did you know it took Google+ only 88 days to hit 50 Million users? But who is using the platform nowadays?
The STEEM whitepaper was released in March 2016 and last weekend we celebrated (you did, didn't you?) 250,000 registered Steem accounts. That's 250K users in 16 months, but don't forget that we celebrated the 200,000 mark only 24 days ago. So the first 200K users took us 15 months while we have recently welcomed 50,000 new users in only 24 days. That's exponential growth. If we all keep on inviting our friends and relatives, who knows how quick we can reach 50 million users!
It’s an exciting time to be living! :)
STEEM Accounts
I've made a chart of the number of Steem accounts of the last 3 months.
It sure has potential to go viral. I mean, people spend their time writing for free on Facebook, they take online surveys where they make perhaps 10$ a month. When the stay at home mom, people on welfare and everyone else finally discovers Steemit in about a years time - it could really take off. Then you wont be sorry you joined early :)
Once the word gets out what is really happening on steemit there will be a stampede. Better have those servers ready guys. It's gonna get hectic.
Yippee! lol
What a great problem to have?
I agree with that!!
I can hear them coming already.
Exactly it wont take no where near the time people think.
3 years from release to 50 million. So we would be a little less than half way.. maybe 3 1/2 years. That's my guess. But it's an amazing accomplishment already. The steemit Alexa rating compared to the registered users is amazing..
Ohh and if you get time and feel so inclined you should make page dividers for the post art challenge, your artistic abilities would be appreciated haha!
Love the steemnow tool just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to create it!
Best,
Isaac
Thank you, good to hear you like it :)
You have a link I can use to vote for you for witness?

Thanks @issac.rodebush! I will check it out!
I think, as far as strength is concerned, what's important is not how many people join it, but how many people actually stay on it. I mean, the main USP of this platform is that posters get paid. In that sense, its more of a blogging platform with a social network attached to it. So ultimately, if the payouts are satisfactory, the people will stay(and more people will join).
The payouts obviously depend on the amount of Steem purchases. So I think what's important, is that the market shouldn't become so competitive that those who want to promote their posts can't afford to do so.
Exponential technology you said it ! What and exciting time to be involved in crypto currency's and steem! I believe the opportunities on steam are endless!! I think when I joined which is in June 2017 it said there was 170,000 users. Then I heard 200,000 users! Now another 50,000 users in 24 days wow that's great! Someday all the Facebook users Will be on steem it! I'm currently saving up now to buy more steam power and think it is a gift that the price is so low!
As long as the development team keeps improving the platform, and we members continue to contribute, it is just a matter of time we hit mass adoption. We'll keep steeming, the bright future is just a few months ahead... Upvoted and resteemed!
I agree, I can't see a downside to being involved in Steemit. There are likely to be a very large number of people eager to join a website like Steemit.
Yeah... we are actually looking at how it would be easier for members join Steemit in the near future hopefully it would be addressed at the next hard fork.
Another one!?
Your posts are amazing. Following! How did I not find you before? The Pokemon Go one is hilarious! 19 days LOL
Thank you so much for the 10 SBD. I really appreciate it :)
I wonder what the reward pool will look like @ 50 million users???
Maybe in another year or two before we reach 50 million users.
This platform has a revolutionary monetary system that is causing many news users to come to this platform every day. I personally think that this platform will be bigger than reddit and be the biggest forum site on the internet. We use forums anyway so why not get paid for your feedback and time? I could see the steem cryptocurrency at 100$ in 2 years if not sooner. It's a great platform and I don't see why people would stop using it!
