A Growing Community - Understanding Comments in Different Languages!

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Hey Steeminians! Happy Holidays!

The Steemit Community is growing quickly and because of that we are all going to experience content as well as comments that come to us written in different languages. I'm sure many of you know that there are tools out there that can help us all to better understand and read this information but there are many who do not.

I write this to help all us Steeminians better understand each other. A little while ago I received a comment written in french and wanted to understand what it said. Thanks to the technology that's available to all of us I was able to quickly translate the message and respond. I responded in English and provided a link that would allow them to translate what I said.

Here's a short list of the services that are available for free to help us all understand each other better.

Bablefish

Bablefish was the first to establish an online translation service so I give credit to them first. Although they are not necessarily always the best they were the first and work hard to help all of us understand each other.

Babelfish

Bing Translation

From Microsoft, the Bing Search engine offers an easy to use translation service. Simply copy the text you wish to translate into the first field and read the translated text in the other. It's quite accurate overall.

Google Translate

Sometimes you have to use Google even if you don't want too :) Their translation service is quite accurate and works in the same simple way as the above. Simply copy the content you would like to translate into the first field and read the translation in the other.

@business10x Offered an excellent suggestion to translate foreign languages. If you use the Google Chrome browser you can add the translate extension which gives you the ability to not only translate blocks of texts but everything in context.

You can download the extension Here

Please share these tools with your friends and followers because they will help us all to understand the content that we come across on Steemit and will help us to grow this amazing community!

Thank you Steemit Community and no matter which holiday you celebrate this year I wish you the very best!

Hi Pennyroll, thanks for sharing. Being able to communicate with people all over the world is awesome, so why only follow blogs in your own language? In addition: the Google Chrome browser (with translate extension) offers to translate the whole webpage for you. So you can see ones blog in context.

Hey that's an excellent extension I didn't know it was available. I added it to the post and credited it to you. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
