[Steemit-Tip] Why you should forget about the money
With some many new users on Steemit and Hard Fork 20 coming up, we need to teach the users what is most important here. It’s very attractive to start blogging and start earning money and probably 60% of all the new users come here because they can earn some ‘quick’ money. Yet after a while they see it isn’t that quick! What separates Steemit from other social media platforms is the money that is involved. While it is attractive to get your money rewards right away and on short term, there is something even better you can get. Something that is worth even more yet not a lot of people make use of it in the beginning. So what’s that thing that is even worth more? Well it’s Steem Power! In the long run this is the option you should pick to go for!
Steem Power is Power, its Ownership!
When you are writing blog posts and comments you get rewarded by getting up votes for that content. Half of the Author rewards are payed out in Steem Power. The way you should look at Steem Power is in 2 ways. First one is obvious and the more you get, they higher the influence you have with your votes. Second is that you have an ownership stake in the Steemit Network. Every time you get Steem Power for posts or comments, you get that small piece of ownership transferred. This ownership can be seen as stocks in a company.
The great thing about this Steemit platform is that you can earn your share yourself without being an employee of Steemit! You just sign up and get your stake already which is awesome. Since we are start growing here, your Steem Power will grow over time. 1 Steem Power is worth $1.29 at the time of writing. In 1 year time this can be $5 for that same amount of Steem Power!
Being early in the startup
When you start early on in an startup you get your share of ownership at a low cost. Of course the market is really volatile but at Steemit you just invest your time to get payed. Or a bit of money if you want to kickstart your journey here which isn’t bad at all! At a later stage the market can still be volatile but your share will be worth way more.
For example: If you bought shares in Facebook or Google early on, you would be retired already and enjoying life as a millionaire.
If you started investing in Steemit 8 Months ago in November, you could have bought Steem for $0.10 each. If you invested $100 back then you would have 1000 Steem. If you would see it now for $1,29 each you would have made $1290! That’s a profit of $1190.
Turn your time into a lot of money
Of course there is always a risk you end up with nothing. That’s it’s just one big hype and it will blow over. But to be a bit more sure you can check up on www.coinmarketcap.com and look at the current value of the market capitalization. With Hard Fork 20 coming up we will see a big amount of new users coming up which can mean that it will go up and your 1 Steem Power will be worth $5 or perhaps $50 in a few month’s.
Choose carefully on Steemit
When you’re an author you have the option to get payed in 50% SBD and 50% SP or in 100% Steem Power. Both have great value and if you can use them to your benefit it is even better. I switch once in a while and do both because I can see a lot of great things in both. The 100% SP will boost my SP exponentially which is awesome because I’m in it for the long term. But when I choose the 50% SBD and 50% SP, I will use the bots like @randowhale and more to boost my posts again and again. I found out that this way helps me get a steady flow of SBD / SP and reputation in the end.

Nice, follow back mr@rkijgsman
I'd rather not do that. I only follow people that really interests me and not random persons who asks for following. Just write great content and you'll get your followers!

As of recent I began to really notice that a lot of people are on Steemit just for the money. People send me messages with texts like: "wanna trade upvotes?" or "I follow you, you follow me." Stuff like that.
I agree with you that it shouldn't be about the money. If you make great content and interact with the community, you'll get rewarded eventually.
Exactly. I get those messages a lot as well. Annoys me. Just create some good content and you will get it anyway!
