Bitcoin Exchange to Spread Losses of Hack

News is out that Bitnex is spreading the $65 million loss from hackers among all its users. When users log in they will see a 36.067% generalized loss, however, they also have plans to compensate users for the losses with tokens or credits. 

What do you guys think? Would you prefer a hard fork fix similar to Ethereum or spread it across the network and potentially compensate down the road?
