WE can MAKE Steemit a HEAVEN or HELL
The ongoing civil war within Steemit is not healthy to the ecosystem where many of us have invested our life's savings into because we believe in its potential to liberate us from the miserable world we created and currently live in.
According to www.dosomething.org:
- Nearly 1/2 of the world’s population — more than 3 billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day. More than 1.3 billion live in extreme poverty — less than $1.25 a day.
- 1 billion children worldwide are living in poverty. According to UNICEF, 22,000 children die each day due to poverty.
- 805 million people worldwide do not have enough food to eat.
- More than 750 million people lack adequate access to clean drinking water. Diarrhea caused by inadequate drinking water, sanitation, and hand hygiene kills an estimated 842,000 people every year globally, or approximately 2,300 people per day.
- In 2011, 165 million children under the age 5 were stunted (reduced rate of growth and development) due to chronic malnutrition.

At this time of the millennia, we not only know but have witness the ineffectiveness and futility of central governments in solving these problems. I say it again - the central government will not and cannot solve these problems.
Thanks to Satoshi Nakamoto for giving us back our freedom. Thanks for giving us another chance to make things right.
NOW, the million dollar question is this:
After millions of years of biological evolution, over 5,000 years of social & technological revolution, thousands of wars and crusades, and millions sacrificed, massacred, and killed, are we READY TO SELF GOVERN???
source: amazon.books
Perhaps Steemit can provide the answer. After all, Steemit is a social network, a social experiment that is THE perfect replica of the world we live in. Can we make SELF GOVERN work in this platform to give the world a formula, a model on how we can turn hell into heaven?
The greatest irony in this world is that we dislike and oppose the central authority that imprisons us and yet we continue to behave in ways for it to exist, flourish and thrive. And we know what we need to do to make this world a better place to live in but we don't have the will, the persistence and the stamina to do it. Even worst, we pretend that we've already done the things that we're supposed to be doing.
2,000 years ago, the Greeks gave us the "how to make heaven on earth" formula in a parable:
There was a man who died and was being taken to heaven by the angels. The angels said to him “We are going to take you to heaven but first we will show you hell”.
The angels then took him to a place where there was a great bowl, so great that it was as big as a lake. The bowl was filled with a nutritious stew. All the way around the sides of this bowl were people. Emaciated, starving, miserable people. These people had spoons to eat the stew with and the spoons were long enough to reach the stew (about 12 feet). The trouble was, while they could scoop up the stew into the spoon, they could not get it into their mouths because the spoons were too long. So here, were all these pathetic people suffering and moaning in agony constantly trying to eat the food that was abundantly in front of them – all in vain.
Next, the angels took the man to heaven. To his surprise, he saw the same scene! There it was, a giant lake-like bowl of the same stew, surrounded by people with 12-foot long spoons. Yet something was different here – all these people were smiling, happy, and healthy looking!
Why? “What is the difference here? People are happy and well fed!” The man said to the angels.
They replied: “Have you not eyes to see?” The man looked more carefully and observed that one person would scoop up the stew and bring it to the mouth of another. Then someone else would scoop up the stew and feed it to the other.
The angels smiled and said. “Here, the people feed each other. Here, the people learned the way of love”.
There you go fellow Steemians. This is THE very simple formula to make Steemit a HEAVEN or HELL.
Very interesting post. The data provided looks like a wake up call to humanity to open our eyes and check what are we really doing? This system needs to collapse in order for us to see the option that we can govern ourselves without the need of a government to do it for us. At this point of time, if you let the free market do its work and stop feeding monopolies through governments; we can see so much prosperity for everyone. I can't say we are all ready, but we need to put ourselves in a position of not choice other than taking care of our own selves and take advantage of the possibilities that a free market can offered,
I agree with you @javybar ... yes we can't say we are ready but how do we know if we ready or not if we don't try. We have to start somewhere to achieve this. One step at a time.
Thanks @javybar for your thoughts on this. There's some truth behind many nations that went through civil war - they learned to respect one another.
So true
Thank you for your words
The fact of all has a point of view to solve the problems of this world
In my opinion, the world must be founded on the principles of values and science together
A world without the rule of values and morality is to where we are now
And the opposite of the Middle Ages by rule of the churches and ignorance
Thanks for sharing
this is sad and heart breaking 💔
Thank you !!
Such a terrible sight. With all the technological advancement that we achieved, we have become even more disconnected and blind to see the plight of our brothers and sisters in the other parts of the world.
Thank you for your post. I have high hopes for a solution to the poverty being available through organization, courage, innovation, compassion. Steemit is promising and I think we can rise above the petty drama when we see we ourselves have only forward to go from here, with the tools the blockchain conceptual model provides us. I too am along for the ride just to keep up. Thanks. ~~ steem love
I like your positive outlook over Steemit @ndbeledrifts. Keep it up.
Nice post, great parable!
This is the best post i've read about Steemit's future. Quote from Batman : The Dark Knight, "Some men just want to watch the world burn". Question is can we keep them away from this community, or digest them? Can we make our world heaven? Depends on how strong we will be. Great post, means a lot. Thanks.
thanks @oguylmz for the feedback and for sharing your thoughts on this. Applying the lessons of the parable in real life is tough and almost impossible but the alternative is far worst.
Thank you for creating awareness about what we are capable of. And sometimes we don't have to work hard to contribute, a smile or appreciating someone doing good work is enough. Sharing has a meaning if you give something that you need. Hoping to see more posts from you.
Couldn't agree more.
I thought this needed an upvote just for quoting the dark knight haha. I agree, there is always some sort of trouble or the sake of trouble. How would we prevent someone from destroying anothers account for sport?
We have to think like them but its impossible. You can't guess the moves of the Joker. There are lots of fat fingers waiting to destroy good things with just pressing the button. I think nothing can change and nothing will change. Only more people will know about these statistics and complain about them. Is that too pessimistic?
The thing about the Joker is that he is a self-defeating enemy. He only wins when he makes us act like him -- as we saw with the bombs and the literal Prisoners Dilemma on the boats in the movie. They chose the path of love and shared humanity and so frustrated his brinksman-nihilism bullshit in its tracks.
These pics make me cry dude, fuukkk ! No matter how many NGOs i work in without a good funding its very touigh to help these fellas :(
you're not alone. thanks for reading and commenting.

Lmao I hope no one actually belives this as any sort of truth. These are unquantifiable religious tenants that hold no basis in reality. Why would that specific number even be relevant to humanity’s well being.
The second line is literally Eugenics. Sounds a lot like forced breeding and creating the one superior race kinda mentality.
If less people means healthier happier people. I'm all for it.
That's called utilitarian fascism, which leads to the degeneration of civilization. Besides this shit has nothing to do with the way the world works, its all just feels-over-reals, religious bullshit that is someone's feelings about their worldview. This is laughable to academia.
What if there only was one soul that experienced every human body to ever exist? Loving others as yourself would be literal. I try and pretend I'm litearlly that other person. Even if it's spending 1 minute on how to ease suffering or helping someone with a task, is very rewarding in more ways than one. I've seen some very miserable people who have millions of dollars from cheating other people and money won't buy happiness and community. Money can ease suffering but it won't bring you joy and peace. :)
couldn't agree more @johnadams00.
You don’t need metaphysical motives to do good to others. The first part is making sure that, as a collective, we do not continue to promote selfishness. Humans are social creatures. We did not survive and continue to thrive in nature because of our physical abilities, we thrived because of our ability to work together and adapt to our environment with human ingenuity and reason. Thumbs are helpful too. Jokes aside, the same concept relates to human nature, for all our faults there still lies within us all the ability to work together for the good of the tribe, family, country, and hopefully someday we will all see eachother as one family, or as you put it, one soul. ☮️
