BEING LONELY
When you’re alone
Your mind is free to roam,
Your heart is a loan
To thoughts
To feelings
To memories.
Being alone,
The cone
That holds the cream
Of loneliness
Sweetening the joy
Of empty-mindedness
Or crowns you
With a thinking cap
And sucks all sap
Off your heart.
Being lonely,
A feeling so close to home
That disconnects me
From family,
From friends,
And robs me
Of sweet fellowship,
Of comfort,
Of companionship,
Of home.
Being lonely;
The attributes of gods,
The trait of eagles,
The fear of man,
The bed of imagination,
The awakener of creation.
Being lonely,
A necessity in life
For the discovery of self:
Its creation,
Its manifestation.
Being lonely,
A gift and a curse.
The Giver gives;
The receiver receives.
Like every gift,
The receiver
Uses
Or abuses.
