I'd like to go in depth on this kind of thing later, but as a rule of thumb, quality > quantity. If it's too big to put in a comment easily, make a blog new post tagged as a reply to the one you want to comment on. Rewards of the blog and any comments are seperate, to my understanding. I've seen 3 dollar posts have 1000 dollar comments.
