We're Hiring

in #steemit7 years ago

We no longer let people apply for verification. We instead rely on notable community members (like you?) to monitor the site and "verify" people who are at a high risk of impersonation.

Verification is a relatively prestigious thing and isn't handed out willy nilly. If hired you'll suggest people for verification and the entire team will vote to decide if they should be verified or not.

If you'd like to join the team and/or learn more message "dalt" on Steemit.Chat.

This essentially turns @steemverify branded verification into vouchment by the team. In other words, everyone else is to trust the team, or a majority of them at least (if you vote by majority).

Since we're in the decentralized ideo-sphere here, I'm curious about the governance of the team. Will it be run in a traditional hierarchy, i.e. @dalt or whoever picks who is in the team and can also revoke membership?

This may seem facetious or pedantic but bear with me. The point is whether verification is worth anything depends on trust in @steemverify and so trust in the team and its members. If the team has a definite leader then the responsibility of this trust can be delegated to them, but if not the team members matter a lot more.

Team members suggest accounts, and at least 50% of the team needs to vote yes for the verification to take place.

Keep in mind there is still basic verification guidelines that team members are expected to acknowledge. They can't just recommend random people they have to be eligible.

The same voting procedure needs to take place when hiring/firing people. Though we reserve the right to kick people out of the team if they are inactive.

For obvious reasons @steemitqa and I can't be fired. As we host and develop the service.

Voting is a courtesy. We could've easily launched this service without relying on votes, but we wanted it to be a democratic and unbiased system.

The only time somebody is verified without voting is if they are an official Steemit, Inc. team member or a Steem Verify team member.

Thanks for the detail. Are you going to publish the guidelines publicly?

What do you mean a courtesy? I would have thought it is fundamental to the structure of the new @steemitqa verification system? I ask because I believe whether it does or does not include voting matters greatly in the value of being "verified". I think many other people would agree with me in this interpretation.

Also I would suggest a higher level of agreement, say 70%. But that's just me 😄

Oh ok. And I thank you for verifying me @SteemVerify :)

You aren't "verified" anymore. All old customers are being migrated over to a different service with a different name. Verification is a lot more strict now.

But then I paid you $3 SBD ... you mailed me the badge and all?
What does that mean?
This makes me lose Trust in Steemit... you can make a complete U-turn anytime you wish.. Tomorrow Steemit may say sorry..your wallet money has expired according to new rules. How Unethical :( This is very very sad.

Well, it is part of user's interaction to actually read the TOS before applying...

Its so easy for you guys to break trust of people here. I gave up Instagram for 1 month to be active here..and this is what I learn.

  1. We are not an official Steemit service.

  2. You can easily request a refund.

  3. You're being extremely melodramatic. I literally just told you that you're not losing your badge. It's just not called verification anymore because verification is being reserved for select users now.

4. Steem Verify was a joke before I joined the team. I've made some serious changes in an effort to make it a legitimately useful service.

How can you use Steems official username? And say you are not official Steemit Service?

I guess you should ask the hundreds of other unofficial services that have the word "Steem" in their name.

You took unfair advantage of the Steem username and you still continue to do so.. and so proud of it too. Great.. good for you.. *shortcuts

It's not that deep. You're making a conscious decision to ignore my replies. You're still getting what you paid for it's just not called "verification" anymore.

If you wanna get verified maybe you should work towards being relevant.

You yourself are acting as a copy and distributing verification for authentication. The best joke of 1000 years

You changed once..you may change again...I am ok..but you are just being extremely unprofessional and its ok with the 3 SBD.. you just proved 3SBD has no real value and you dont care for steems users..for if you did you would have refunded the money already.

I'm a new member of the team ;)

But please keep attacking me when you have no idea what you're talking about.

And why would we "have refunded the money already" when people are still getting what they paid for, it's just not called "verification" anymore. Lol

I am not attacking you.. I am just telling you that there are better ways of doing things.

And as I've stated before. You're acting melodramatic. Verification is a highly sought after status symbol across social media platforms. Handing it out to anybody and everybody completely invalidates it.

Sorry, no participation trophy for you.

We are still going to keep doing what our old service advertised, but under a new name, as Steem Verify is specifically for community members who might be impersonated now (and the application process is currently closed).

Hi @steemverify :) I would love it if you could verify my account @goodbyematrix

Thanks so much for your work!

Since the verification method provided by your site has stopped, whst is suggested to show proof of verification? Moving forward I will be posting a lot of artwork. Thank You in advance if your able to respond.

I recommend you do not verify yourself at all and let your work speak for itself.

If you have official social media accounts or a website it's a good idea to link back and forth between them and your Steemit account.
