Do people actually read long articles?

Humanity reached to the state where everyone is trying to run as fast as the time goes. People are very impatient these days. There are apps in the market right now, where the entire news is explained in less than 120 words. That became a good business model.

People are skipping most of the content in a video and trying to get the whole essence of the 20 minute video in 2 minutes. Some people read the comments, before they even start watching a video.

I have worked as a search evaluator to a couple of search engine companies out there. I've rated countless ads and I've seen many people complaining about the size of the article in the comments.

If people are not interested in reading longer articles, why are we even trying to create posts which is longer than 500 words. Don't you think that the work you put in is not well recognized? Are we writing articles to catch search engine eyes or to really help people.

I am looking forward to read your views on this topic. Comment down below your opinions. I will go through them and reply you as soon as I can.

Some people are creating long articles to climb up in Google rankings. I've literally worked with people that smooshed together multiple articles to create 4,000+ word blobs of text, disregarding quality.
