It doesn't go as far, Anymore
Some things can't be bought, like Steem Power.
Before payouts started happening, it was not impossible to buy enough Steem Power to make a difference in your influence. But everything changed on the fourth of July.
The best thing about the change: people can't buy their way to the top of the Steemit pile anymore.
The worst thing about the change: it's now harder than ever to increase your Steem Power.
I feel bad for the people who only catch the train after today, because they will have the hardest time of anyone. So much of Success on this platform comes down to having enough clout to draw attention. Everyone without that has to rely on luck alone.
I look forward to seeing how Steemit faces these challenges.
Luck? So good quality content, even by a new user never gets upvoted, ever?
There's hundreds of posts that have made money, simply by the content they posted, and not all of them had steem power.
I came here with $3.50 of free steem power when I joined. I didn't get lucky. Look at my posts, many of them are $0.00 payout or only less than $5
If you write good content, eventually people take notice, but not right away. Sometimes you have to be patient.
What's weird, is that people spend more time complaining how steemit can't work, and all they do is get upvoted by other people with no steem power, who also think it can't work.
Who are you trying to attract with posts like this? The whales? Do you think they will upvote content that says the system is unfair?
I'm not a whale. But I did go viral one time. I never expected it to happen, but it did. But it wasn't a post complaining about how badly steemit is designed and how no one can do well on here.
P.S. Don't shoot the messenger. I volunteered to be the messenger here. :)
Well, as far as whether good content is enough to get upvotes, I believe the record speaks for itself.
Day after day, I see tons of quality content get overlooked. And I'm not the only one on Steemit who has noticed this and brought it up. I will grant you that most of the super successful posts are of good quality, but little else distinguishes those posts from those that are really good, but go unnoticed.
As I said above, I look forward to seeing how Steemit deals with these issues.
And as for who I'm hoping to attract to my posts, that would only be those who are not afraid to stare truth in the face, which would apparently include yourself, since you're, y'know, here.
In the meantime, you should take a page from your own book and not shoot the messenger.
It won't be about luck though.
Perseverance and adaptability are the name of the game!
Well, luck is just a ratio.
If that ratio is 1 out of 100, then 100 tries will yield 1 golden success.
So yes, it is just luck, but luck can be gamed. That's the thing people call "perseverence".
