the parents and the in-laws...
Since we have moved away to Switzerland from respectively Belgium and Germany we do occasionally get visitors and of course that means the parents and the in-laws...
and when normally life goes on its leisurely pace and kinda clean is clean enough this is different
it is all hands on deck:
redo the guest bed (even though the sheets were clean to begin with)
clean the bathroom top to bottom (even though it was cleaned normally a few days before)
dust of all furniture (especially in the guest room)
go shopping and stock up on all things they (might) need
do the dishes and re clean the kitchen (you should be able to eat of the floor)
check if there is enough beer and wine (but buy an extra crate and a few bottles to be sure)
make sure the calendar is packed to the brim with all kinds of activities for good and bad weather (even though they just want to enjoy our company)
And we do all this not because its really needed but in the end it is just because these are the people that raised us and we want to treat them with the respect they deserve. They will always be the parents to one (chill, do not make such a big fuss about this) and the in laws to the other (clean, tidy everything, leave a good impression,...)
If you had a good childhood like us (with its ups and downs of course) and you had parents who loved you (divorced or not) then I imagine this is going to be the scene for everyone all around the world...
THE PARENTS ARE COMING.... CLEAN EVERYTHING (cuz we love em)
