Does a post on Steemit continue to earn perpetually as long as it is up voted or does the earning stop after the first seven days? I will appreciate if someone can explain how this works.
My understanding is that it has more to do with technical limitations than anything else. But you might want to discuss it with some of the more experienced witnesses like @timcliff or @pfunk
Thank you @shadowspub. It actually makes sense to discuss it with the governors themselves; @timcliff and @pfunk. My opinion is that a seven day pay period encourages quantity over quality. I have also noted that the search function is not so great. Rummaging through thousands of posts without a hint of the highest quality post dampens the user experience of information seeking steemians. We have to beat google on this one.
At one point each person could post no more than 4 posts a day. Well, you could post but your ability to earn dropped on post 5. They removed that limit in one of the hard forks. Personally, I'd be hard pressed to do 2-3 posts in a day depending on content.
I have come across some scammers who think that posting the same post over and over again counts as contributing. So, that is one of the downsides to no limit.
You are right on the search function and the need to rummage through a lot of chaff to find the better posts. In fact, I do that on a regular basis for my posts.
Interestingly enough, Steemit's posts actually do quite well in Google. So, you might have an easier time of finding what you are looking for on Steemit by searching directly on Google.
It is almost good enough if steemit posts do quite well in google. It seems steemians are resorting to all manner of schemes to make money. Why not ramble these schemes one of this fine days - the not so smart schemes
We were discussing this with you the other day @shadowspub. Coincidentally, @jerrybanfield was at it. He did a very good job showing how the top earners here make their money. I hope it gets people talking improvements.
it stops after 7 days as you can no longer upvote the post
Thank you @shadowspub for clarifying. I think this is one of the areas that needs improvement if quality content is to be rewarded sufficiently.

I rather not give any schemes attention and exposure they don't warrant. I prefer to keep the Ramble for sharing quality posts.
