Google is dead. ^^OPEN DISCUSSION^^

Google is dead, it seems. When did it die, you ask? During it's release of Project Owl.

Project Owl was Google's algorithm update aimed at curbing "fake news" and "hateful content". On the surface, this seems like a great idea. However, people have been noticing strange things with the Google and it's search engine since then...

There was a time when Google was so smart, it often completed your searches for you in the bar before you could even finish typing the first few words. 2016 seems so long ago now... Today, trying to find something on Google that isn't "pop culture" or "trending" is far from easy. I noticed this the very same day Project Owl debuted. Autocomplete has been turned down from a 10 to a 1. You used to be able to type in key words from an article title you were reading and the link would instantly come up, ready to go. Now, you have to practically type in the url before Google remembers you were even there.

This isn't limited to search history either, a simple search such as "Marijuana laws in Colorado" requires you to type in every single word before offering a limited selection of suggestions. Pre-2017, Google would have that and 4 more options ready to go just in case you wanted "Marijuana laws in Colorado for tourists". Gone are the days of two word searches. Google is now dumb, it's IQ among that of Bing and Yahoo.

Anyone will a Google phone might be able to attest to this next part too. It's no longer about convenience, its about data. Sometimes, its data under the guise of convenience. I used to love my Nexus 6P and I always planned to get another Google phone, until it started happening. "Google would like to enable location services". That's the popup I was faced with every time I unlocked my phone for 2 weeks. Now, the frequency has reduced quite a bit, though I still find myself once a week muttering "f**k off" while pressing cancel on that popup. It seems their fervor for user data is quite high, particularly when it comes to location information of their users.

Google killed Google, it just isn't the same anymore.. This is an open discussion so feel free to post your thoughts on this.  Have you noticed any of these changes? Have you maybe switched to a new search engine? Or do you flat out disagree with me? Let's hear it from the Steemit community!
