THE MAN NEXT DOOR
I grew up in the village were weddings were special occasion for the young and little ones.
We the small boys and girls enjoyed the meals that were prepared at the wedding ground. The youth however used it as an occasion to look for partners and meet their girlfriends and boyfriends.
They play jumps the whole night from 6:00 Pm to 6:00Am. We the little ones are send home by 10: 00 Pm which sometimes make us sad.
There was this man call Debsie Simon in our community. He was a well respected man because he was among the few educated people in our community.
As usual wedding days come with our night jumps; it happens that the newly wedded couple resided near this man residence. While this jumps was going on around 9: 00 am this man was trying to rest after long day of exhaustion, the music from the jump was too loud to the extend that this man could not sleep.
He finally said enough is enough i must tell this people to stop this so call jump. He came to ground and was shouting at the DJ ‘hey!! Hey!! you can’t you see that people are trying to sleep?, reduce you volume i can’t sleep.
The DJ removed his headphone and asked ‘what did you say’ and he repeated you are disturbing my sleep lower your volume. The DJ complied and was reducing the volume but when Mr Simon was about to go back to his house, he noticed that His son Francis Debsie who leaning against one of the big speakers was fast asleep. When he saw that he was surprise, here i am trying to sleep but because of the music i can’t sleep and my son is leaning against the speakers and sleeping.
He realised that he was not feeling sleeping that was the reason why he can’t sleep but not because of the jumps. He turned and told the DJ to continue playing the jumps and walked round the place for some time and took his son home and nobody heard from him again that night.
Sometime we try to blame others for our misfortunes and not trying to assess ourselves first. As human we should always endeavour to examine ourselves and pray when things do not go our way rather than associating our problems with the people surrounding us.
