Upvoting is the same as hitting the like button, I don't see what the problem is if you like the article, no matter how much money its earning, up vote it! On the other side of the scale. I am new to steemit and am putting out original material and its been pretty much ignored, quite disheartening, but I shall soldier on. The one thing I do notice is that people are upvoting on blogs and they haven't even read them or opened them up, this I do have a problem with.
Well one thing is, you have limited VP which regenerates at certain speed :) So it is not only similar to a like, but if you want to give extra boost for something you really like, VP can be cherished. Easier when over 500SP.
