What is the future of Steemit?

Do we have have a big crowd active here still and engaging with other posts, likes, comments, questions, etc? Show me?!

I haven't used the platform for a while... (Apart from a introductory post on Splinterlands last week here: https://steemit.com/gamer/@bjt34/joining-the-splinterlands-craze)

Im curious from this great community where SteemIt is up to and where it is going? Its been a crazy ride in Crypto this week. I hope everyone continues to hold (or is buying more) and serving the rough patches. Come someone please explain the Hive / Steemit fork? Why are people on there now? Why are they still here? Do people do both?

I'd love some further information and some good discussions :)
