Independent woman

Dear aunty,

When men say they want an independent woman, we are not just talking about a woman who works an 8 hours job and gets a salary at the end of the month, or a woman who runs a business and can afford to buy her own things. Being an independent woman is far more than being able to fix your bills and pay rents.

Ironically, that is what a lot of women believe it to be and some men too. To drive your own car, live in your own apartment and buy your own sanitary pads is an amazing independent quality a real man admires in a woman, but financial capacity is not the original definition of an independent woman, it goes way more than that.

An independent woman is completely responsible for herself, in her actions and in her wise decisions. It means that you have self-confidence without having to rely on another person or society for validation, or wait on a man to define who you are. Being a strong, independent woman means that you are able to find happiness on your own, and enjoy your own company. You do not need to call or text her on her birthday before she can be happy, an independent woman will dress up, take herself out and have a good time before she let any man decide her state of happiness.

You can earn a salary every month and still not be an independent woman, you can own a business empire and still let a man walk all over you... it goes way more than your ability to provide, it is a CHARACTER! And that is what a man seeks in a strong woman; AN INDEPENDENT CHARACTER!
