NEW MONKEYS IN THE FOREST.

As Luan was watching trough his binoculars he could not believe his eyes. 

He has been here so many times watching the birds and the deer. He thought he knew all the animals in the forest. There was a monkey and it looked like it was sticking his toung out at Luan.

There not far from him were the most beautiful little monkeys that you have ever seen. I wonder why they have never come here before he tought and decided to sit and watch them through the binoculars. He already knew that they looked nearer than they were, but he could not believe his eyes.

His father had given him the binoculars for his birthday and he knew things looked nearer that they really were. 

He sat watching them play and was so impressed with them.  

After about an hour he went home and told his mother what he saw, he ran into the house.

Oh mother you will not believe it but I saw some beautiful little monkeys play in the woods today. 

That must have been nice my dear but I have never seen monkeys before I wonder where they came from. We have had some nice rain, and maybe they are looking for some nice fruit and things to eat.

It could be why they have not come this way before.  How did you see them Luan, I saw them thought the binoculars so they must have been a little way off from here. 

Oh I am so glad your father bought you those binoculars now you know how they work, and you know that things look a lot nearer when we look at them and we think they are just here but they are not.

It is so good to remember the clever people who made them for us. I do remember dad telling me about Galileo Galilei, the first man to see craters on the moon through a telescope. 

That is so wonderful that you remember that my darling. 

I will forever be pleased with my binoculars; if not for them I would not have seen the monkeys today. 

Tell me more about them, are they nice. Oh yes mother they are big and small some of them are still babies I think as they sat on their mothers laps and some were scratching one another like they were looking for something.

Mother tomorrow you must come with me as you will not believe they have the funniest little faces and long tails. They are so many together just like one big family gathering.  They live in big groups my darling just to protect one another. They are a lot like people and they look after one another just like we do. 

They are called troops as they live together and they will eat anything that seem nice to them.

Sometimes they can be very naughty and go into towns and steal things from people’s houses to eat.  So when they live like your monkeys they are also naughty but they do not come to near to areas where people are as they do not know us.

Tomorrow I will go with you and we will take some pictures of them on the camera and we will look on the computer at the library what kind of monkeys they are. That will be very nice as I heard there are as many as  260 different kinds of monkeys. 

I really hope we can find out what kind  they are. 

When his father came home he told him about the monkeys and that he would take pictures to show him the next day. 

That will be so nice but I am so hungry now that I can eat a monkey myself, when are we eating.

They had dinner and sat laughing that his dad wanted to eat a monkey. Son you know that was just a joke, I will never hurt them or kill them, they are such wonderful animals so please do not tell your friends they might just misunderstand. 

I will not father, but I always thought they say you are so hungry you could eat a horse. Yes son that is enough now it is bath time and then bed time.

It is just two more weeks then we will be going down to the beach for you to see the sea. So enjoy your monkeys tomorrow and sleep tight. 

Luan did as his father said, and was so happy thinking of the coming holiday. 

He knew that there he would see other animal that he had never seen before and was really looking forward to it.
