This is something that teachers and parents need to monitor and be aware of. There are so many kids that believe that they just can't do math and they have developed and anxiety about it that leads to them shutting down. Once students have shut down it becomes very difficult to re-engage them. Math is such an important life skill, it must be made a positive experience early on.
