Introduction

Bullies are everywhere and happens to everyone, not just to kids at school. They want to make you feel bad and worthless. You do not deserve that, but how many of the bad things we see everyday do we deserve? If work in an organization and discover that someone (like your boss or department head) is doing one or more of the 3 things listed below, you are being bulled! Check them out.

1. Unwarranted aggression: He does everything to make you angry even when you did nothing wrong. He could resort to name calling, shouting at you, making mean gestures or letting you down in front of others. This is more common among superiors like your boss. Each time they talk to you, they want to embarrass and victimize you. Their explosive approach is designed to make you look small and worth nothing. If someone is treating you this way at work, you are being bullied.

2. Character assassination: A bully tells others how bad you are behind your back. They frame up lies and unreal stories about you, your family, work or other things. The bully is probably jealous of your position or achievements in the organization and wants to destroy your reputation. If this happen regularly, it is bullying.

3. Misguided Supervision: The bully could be the head of you department or your supervisor. He pretends to be doing his work but is bent on destroying you. They shout out command and scream at you even for doing the right things. He uses intimidation as a powerful tool to bring you down and make you feel horrible - all at the guise of directing your work. This can be difficult to find out, but if a supervisor or department head treats you this way regularly, you are being bullied.

Conclusion

Bullying is bad and might destroy your happiness. It happens everyday at the workplace - as much as at schools. Lots of people have to endure this for the sake of not loosing their jobs. Whatever reason you go through this, something can - and should - be done to deal with it. I will write another article that suggests ways to deal with workplace bullying. watch this space!

Very good post with a deep background. Thank you very much for this informational post!

The best thing to do for all bullying is to ignore it. If it is not possible to ignore it, remove yourself from the situation. You are better not to waste your energy on bullies and to spend it taking care of yourself. Trying to change the behavior and attitude of bullies is a losing game in my experience.

once more you wrote a great post - thank you

thank you

At work just focus on your work. Come at time and go on time. Its my rule at work place.

You can also be bullied at work by being pounded with high workloads while others slack or delegate their work to you

@focusnow, At work place we have to be focused and observant because it's important to understand if someone is trying to dominate us or like that. Many stay silent due to fear but that's not an ultimate solution, it's important to protect our Self-Respect. Stay blessed.

Bullying in the work place thanks for highlighting this if I was being bullied I would definitely be looking for another job!!
